Thread: Goblin Profitability Suite (GPS)

I'm sure many of you are thinking "Hey, remember all those spreadsheets that Kathroman used to make back in Cata that never made any sense? Why hasn't he made any more lately? What's he been up to?"

Well, I hope the answer more than makes up for my "absence".

Goblin Profitability Suite

The Goblin Profitability Suite attempts to eventually replace all those cumbersome SS resources. It is my personal belief that this format offers

a) greater flexibility
b) increased usability
c) a better, overall experience than the traditional Spreadsheet models

The GPS currently only contains 1 module, but there are definitely more in the works.

Please post any comment, bugs, suggestions, etc. in this thread. I will reserve the 2nd post for a known issues list.

You may notice additional modules will appear on the homepage from time to time which are inaccessible, and un-clickable. Consider this a shameless plug for the Premium Ethereal Contributor Subscription, as all preview/development modules will originate in the EC private forums

The current module (Saronite Shuffle) SHOULD be fairly straightforward, but if you have any issues figuring out how to use it - please let me know.

I'd also like to once again thank @wowuctioneer for his support with the pricing.

Known issues:

-Battle.net URLs on the mats page are currently hard-coded for US-Horde. Once I get confirmation from someone on EU about the correct syntax, I'll work on updating that.
-Not really an "issue" but please note that global pricing is automatically updated daily. Realm specific pricing will be fetched ONLY if it is older than 48hrs. If you need more up-to date pricing than that, there really aren't many individual items, so feel free to override them manually.
-Other than the uncommon gem modals (popover windows) on the summary page, the entire site should be 100% responsive, but it hasn't been tested extensively, so feel free to document any issues, just please make note of your individual device/OS if you do.
-Meta gems CAN seriously sway the profitability results, so if you plan to tackle this shuffle in any sort of serious volume, please be mindful of the fact that selling 4 year-old meta gems is likely not a high-volume market.
-Pricing will NOT be loaded until you click the "fetch prices" button in the second tab. I know the wording on the settings page suggests that global data will be loaded automatically, but it doesn't, so if you get any weird pricing on your summary, or php errors (which I should probably go back and suppress anyway) - double check your crafts/mats page to see that pricing has been properly imported.

Also: Sasa and I have sorted out some reasonable delays so that we don't end up unnecessarily overloading the wowuction server, so be aware that if your pricing doesn't seem to be loading right away, wait abotu 30 seconds and the try again.

Congrats on finally reaching the public release stage, you put a lot of work into it good job man.

Just fixed an issue where ore prices weren't showing up for non-US Alliance realms. Let me know if you run into any other issues.

While working through some issues with the Ironpaw Shuffle module, I noticed that there was a bug in the Saronite Shuffle module that meant that realm specific pricing wasn't actually being fetched. The data was being downloaded from wowuction just fine, but then it was still extracting the region pricing. Sorry about that - I've wiped everything clean, so feel free to have another look, and please let me know if you notice any other bugs I've missed.

FYI - the realm specific data will pull a lot more "empty" fields (-1). For the crafts, I'd like to add a manual override field, but it might take a little while, so in the meantime, please remember to disable any crafts that are missing data, and be sure to override any mats (usually just the more obscure like titanium powder or dragon's eye)
