The Golden Crusade Shuffler - A Shufling Spreadsheet for Mists of Pandaria

    Download The Golden Crusade Shuffler

This spreadsheet, created for Mists of Pandaria, is designed to help players get the most profit out of what has become known as the shuffle. Users can take market data from The Undermine Journal (all three data options are supported, XML, CSV, and IQY) and enter values for how much ore they're buying, at what price, how many gems they're transmuting etc. The Shuffler also includes a page for The Ironpaw Shuffle and for Spirit of Harmony Optimization.

Past discussion on The Golden Crusade Shuffler on The Constortium

Note that while some tabs are hidden and any cells not used for data input are locked there are no passwords on the spreadsheet so users can tweak the formulas at their own risk if they so wish. Furthermore, the spreadsheet was designed to work with later versions of Microsoft Excel (using the .xlsx format) so support for other spreadsheet programs will be limited but I'll try to do my best within reason to accommodate support for other programs via the Google Docs version.

    Features

    • Estimates profit margins
    • Allows users to experiment with different amounts of transmuting, disenchanting, crafting, and more
    • Can be used as a stand alone calculator for enchanting profits
    • Fully customizable to a players needs including options for perfect gem cuts, disenchanting jewellery, guild perks and masteries, and customizable purchase prices
    • Spreadsheet advises users on what should be profitable and what won't
    • Allows taking enchants into consideration
    • Tells you the most profitable way to use your Spirit of Harmony
    • Tells you how to make gold with the Ironpaw Shuffle
    • And more

I played around with the new version and I really like the change that shows everything that is profitable, that is a big help. Would it be possible at all to have the spreadsheet tell you what the most profitable thing to do with all your gems are? For example it would say like make 10 Primal Diamonds, cut 5 Primordial Rubies into x cut, make 20 Ornate Bands and DE, etc...? I'm not sure something like that is even possible with a spreadsheet but if it was it would be awesome to know the absolute most profitable way to shuffle on any given server.

I don't think that's possible in a spreadsheet, that'd require some very powerful logic programming, well, at least more powerful than I think I'm able to figure out (and have time too haha). The profitable advice advises if it's profitable over say cutting the gems or selling the enchanting materials straight, so really creating anything that says Yes to is it profitable is your most profitable course of action within reason.

@Jimbodan, you bring up a good point. Optimizing so many factors is possible, but as @Xsinthis states, it's a lot of work, logic, etc.

Here is what I do, and it's what I've been doing for years.....DIVERSIFY!

Honestly, it's true some markets are the most valuable at any given time, but that changes. Markets crash, demand rises and falls, etc. So what I usually do is divide my ore into 3-5 parts....

Part 1: Prospect and cut Gems to sell
Part 2: Prospect, make rings/necklaces, sell Blues, DE Greens
Part 3: Smelt into an intermediary bar, sell
Part 4: Smelt / Transmute into final product items
Part 5: Do #3 and #4 above, then craft GEAR to sell

So for example, considering I have a transmutation master, Ore --> Bar --> Transmute to Trillium --> Transmute to Living Steel = VERY cheap Living Steel bars that is close to the same profit margin as I would have prospecting and selling gems.

The biggest decision I have to make is what ratios to use. Sometimes it's an even split, but when I know the gem market is rising, I'll change my ratio to put more ore into that "assembly line" so to speak.

Really my biggest problem is always whether to make the serpent's eye jewelry or not and if so which ones.

@Xsinthis, I do have a couple suggestions that might help in this matter....

    1) Color code the Yes/No/Kinda cells independently. So something that is profitable by 1g vs another cell that might be profitable by 100g should not be treated equally. Maybe a shade of Green to Blue or something to indicate which Yes is a stronger, more profitable, Yes.

    2) Can we add a "Smelting" section? What happens if I smelt into Bars, then Transmute into something else, etc.?

Otherwise, STRONG WORK - I love it!

1.) Sound suggestion, I'll have to tinker with the formatting and see what I can do. Might be easiest to list profit as a gold value instead of the current Yes/Kinda/No system, just the way formatting works

2.)I could fairly easily, but then we start expanding beyond the typical shuffle and next thing you know I've accounted for every craft across every profession :P I'll think about it though

    1) I know it's not the "Namssob Shuffler", but I'm not sure I would like the actual gold amount. The Yes / No is a nice touch, and easy to follow for most people. Short of a color code, It WOULD take some extra programming to use a Mouseover instead. But even if you say, Namssob's an idiot, it works fine the way it is, I love it, and don't need it to be changed.

On a related note, what I have been doing now is adjusting every "Yes" field with 1 craft to see what makes my profit percentage go up. And mentally take note of which changes had the biggest impact.

    2) I agree with you on this one. I guess I was just thinking outloud. We already go 3 steps on the prospect side (Prospect - Craft - DE), I was just thinking of 3 steps on the smelting side. Prospecting and Smelting are the only two things you can do with Ore other than sell it outright.

The tool is fantastic and I will keep using it, thanks!

1.) What I could do is colour code it but still show the profit amount

2.) I've also had requests for like tailoring bags so I really don't know what I'm going to do in terms of how far I take this

Just a quick note I've updated to Version 0.3.1 which should fix compatibility issues some people are having with other spreadsheet programs. It's also available again on Google Docs. If you weren't having issues with V0.3.0 there's no need to download the new version.
