    Mac User - halp?

I still have a PC but I mostly use it for the raiding and actual gaming side of things... so I'm all set there when it comes to using the Curse client and keeping things updated. But the Macbook is what I take with me to/from work so she sees the bulk of my AH activity, and is host to the unique set of add-ons related to the enterprise of gold-making in WoW. Thing is, I have yet to find a reliable 'easy' way to update my add-ons on a Mac. Am I doomed to forever troll curse.com and look for individual file updates, or does some kind soul out there have a solution for me?

Not a MAC user, but a linux one, so I'm in a similar boat of not having access tot he curse client. Here's a couple suggestions if you don't end up getting the client itself sorted out:

    1) "Favourite" the addons you use on the curse website. This makes it easier to mass-update, since you can just go to your account page, and see which ones have been recently updated.
    2) use fewer addons. Might some counter-intuitive, but I can assure you, nothing makes you re-evaluate how important an addon REALLY is to you like having to manually hunt it down every day for updates. I cut my addon list in half when I moved off Windows.

    Hope that helps

Thanks Kathroman, I went through and favourited a bunch of my.. well, favourite add-ons. That definitely helps. the only thing that really sucks is that I consider so many add-ons to be almost essential to my day-to-day playing now, ugh. It's going to be hard to trim that down. Apparently I'm a bit of an add-on hoarder, heh.

I used to be an addon hoarder also and a while back took a hard long look at what i was actually really using and needed and got rid of most of them.

It might also be worth checking out changes blizzard have implemented into the base game also.e.g. i recently disposed of my quest addon due to the great improvements in the basic map/quest interface.
here are a few things that i would still like adding to it such as the locations of more flight paths (more in the case of old content) and where the local inn is but they are only occasional needs and can easily be sorted with wowhead. In return i have a much more accurate quest zone/item markers and it doesn't bug when it doesn't recognise the quest.

That is a good example and many features just don't cut it still even with the improvements they have made but it is worth considering not just using an addon for something just because you always have done.

You could run the Curse Windows client under a Windows Emulation like Bootcamp or VMWare on the Mac. Another option is to try the old Mac beta client from Curse (Version 4.0.0.425 Beta). I found out only this week that it is still working for me (Mac OSX 10.8.5)...

    Hope it helps.

Thanks, Sylenth - I'd forgotten that I'd installed the Mac beta client ages ago, and it actually works for 90% of the add-ons I use. Score!

Wowmatrix will update addons as well (www.wowmatrix.com) - they have a nice app working with Mac, Linux and Windows, itīs free and even updates all your addons in one go if you wish. Only caveat is that they do not cover ALL addons (e.g. Tradeskillmaster...), so I use Curse for the missing ones.

A suggestion if you use Firefox on a Mac, is to keep your bookmarked curse addon pages in a folder in your bookmarks; when you scroll down the Bookmarks menu to the folder, it shows each bookmark, then "Open all in tabs", which will simultaneously open each webpage in a different tab. Could be handy if you've got a couple dozen to check.
