SWTOR - Craft before lvl 10 + xp boost

I was thinking I was not possible as we get the crew skills "naturally" when arriving to our fleet zone. But while reading forums I have read a post telling that you can start gathering (i have read bio-analysis and scavenging) on the starter planets.
While making some more investigations I has seen people confirming this works for any class/side (not 100% sure if on any class/side combination you have access to mobs for the 2 gathering skills).

The idea, is to get to you fleet ASAP, speak to any of the crew skill trainer (it is free and it rewards 450xp bonus even if you don't take the skill) and take one of the gathering skill that works and that you will need. I will boost your xp and you will be able to "harvest" some mobs on your starter planet. Some are not "skinnable" but usually the silver and gold ones are.

I have seen reports of people going "frenzy" and upping gathering skills to 75+.

This could lead to easy credits as you will be ahead of the market, or ease your crafting skill. Just be carefull of your bag space

I'd just like to quickly note that it's possible to see the link to this thread in the "New Posts" tab, assume from the title it has something to do with World of Warcraft's requirement that characters be at least level 10 before advancing professions past level 50, and become really quite extraordinarily confused. My first instinct was that some non-English speaker had tossed up a Babelfish mess, and "bio-analysis and scavenging" was the best it could do for Master of Anatomy and skinning.

did not think about the home page links I will change the subject name to add SWTOR in it.
However you can see from the new post tab that it is located in the SWTOR subforum

Yea, if you want to go bioanal or scavenging, this is a possibility. The problem is that the class quest that I *think* are required to get off the planet can be quite hard underleveled. Personally, I have opted to skip this and just quest natually to the fleet. You will miss out on some droids/beasts to skin, but I find the money you would make from questing in the next planet make up for the lost time in going back and finishing side quests/skinning to not be underleveled, but YMMV.

The extra exp you get is from adding the entry of the crew skills to your codex (not sure thats the right term for it).
You actually get exp for visiting every single crew skill npc.
You don't have to actually learn a skill to get the exp.
As to how early you can actually get to the fleet to get said exp and or skills I have no idea.

I managed to wander off the starter at level 3. Got to the fleet, did the crew skills quest and got a ton of xp. Also you can do bio analysis on the starter world.

After playing the pre-launch lil more info.
The moment you are born you can head to the space port take the trip to the space station and get the craft skills.
You can skill up on the gathering crafts on you first world.
Bio - tons of animals to skin
Scavenge - all the silver star or above droids
You can't do the actual crafting till you get a companion.
Be careful you take the right craft skills as you CAN NOT get rid of them until you get your companion (yes made that mistake on my first toon)

Lets go ahead and agree to kill this shorthand version of bioanalysis.
Nothing comes merely by thinking about it.

    I second this.

So can anyone confirm the level requirement to get to the trainers? Is it any different for different classes? It seems confused everywhere I look.

And as an additional question for myself and others looking for information can you level up gathering skills besides bio analysis and scavenging, like slicing, on the starter world?

    I'll 3rd it

Not slicing, as it requires a crew member to perform. It only applies to gathering skills you can perform yourself
