Some PvP cuts that I have found sell well are the str/res, agi/res, and int/res cuts. I hardly ever sell a plain resilience cut or any other res cuts, and the ones that do sell do so slowly either way. (Though I play on a PvE realm, which probably has something to do with it.) As a hunter, my optimal gem choice for yellow sockets is Deadly which has no res since the nerf to the stat, so I assume that a few other classes are like that which contributes to how slowly they move.

Other than that I haven't much to add here. Despite being a JC for the entirety of the expansion, I only have 35 or so tokens stocked up, which is a bit of a pain. But that's where laziness gets me, and JC isn't my biggest cash cow either way, so I do not think it will effect me too bad.

I have around 200 tokens nonetheless I probably going to buy all recipes specific. Because I can save more tokens buying the specific gems that are going to sell rather then buying that RNG thing. as quitstrm said more then 50% of the recipes are waste like Int + stamina or some crazy combination like that.

Going with the Best in Slot gems for the raiders is a good thing but you have have to consider that a lot of ppl don't know how to gem properly.

the stamina gem was my best blue rare gem I guess. I'm definitely going to pick up this one right from the start. There are two reason why a tank gems for gem.. actually three.

    1. You are a lowbie tank and you can't survive two hits from a dungeon boss without healing

    2. Your avoidance stats are so high that you benefit more from stamina gems then from additional avoidance gems (full 391 paragon style). And if they don't nerf avoidance then this gem has a really high potential for a bestseller.

    3. You think gemming is like it was back in wrath of the lich king. (really! On my server there are still ppl who think you can do the pvp boss in 10man and 25man once a week)

thats a good point. I remember the first week of wrath of the lich king epic gems. There was almost no demand for epic gems because ppl didn't want to spend money to gems their old ulduar gear. although epic gems were easy available through different ways(honor points, valor points, ore, transmute etc.). this time this will be a lot harder I guess.

    good choice I would add:
    defender, skillful, fine, potent

@Jenzali, good point, the only thing I would change would be the order of red gems. I sell WAY more Bold's than Delicates. I'd say Brilliant/Bold, then Delicate would be third.

Its still not sure how hard it truly is to get epic gems, the transmute recipe has been datamined and unless it has ridiculous high requirements or some fixed daily to obtain mats ( hello renewed DMF ) you can quite bet the opposite actually.

Still even if its easy obtainable, I dont see masses of people regemming their current firelands gear - only the really hardcore guilds and a few truly min maxers in average guilds who go this far.

    @Stede
I thought of CE als Chimera's Eyes. But nevertheless, i'll learn some specific cuts only and probably will use the rest of my tokens for CE.

I believe someone mentioned it earlier, but transmute could also work differently: from epic gem to epic gem. The difficulty would be the number of Epic transmutes that one would have to learn (like the eternals in WOTLK), however this would partially solve the problem of not enough red gems dropping for DPS, assuming an equal distribution.

An example of a transmute might be:
Transmute 1 Epic Red Gem = 1x any other EPIC colour + 3x inferno ruby

In the case of the above, supply will still be limited by drop percentage and alchemists may fine themselves a new low margin niche (ie. 10g fee).

I doubt this will happen because the Blizzard engine currently doesn't have the ability to use a wildcard item for a recipe, unless they make 36 recipes to transmute any color into any color, and it seems unlikely they would add it for something like this. It would just make non-reds pointlessly expensive, and they already stated they wanted it to take the rest of the expansion to outfit yourself in epic gems, rather than them being flooded by transmutes in the first week.

I have a suspicion that the epic recipe vendor is a PTR only thing for testing purposes. She is an exact duplicate in clothing and character model of the rare gem recipe character. You would think they would have tweaked her some if she was supposed to be permanent.

Well her first name is different and her surname suggests she's the sister of the original JC vendor, so Blizzard can get away with them looking alike. /shrug

A new PTR build appeared and this time they added the Geodes they were talking about earlier:

    Crystalline Geode
Perfect Geode - Item - World of Warcraft
Elementium-Coated Geode - Item - World of Warcraft <-- Only red orange or purple gems from this one

My guess is that the Crystalline one comes from the LFR tool, Perfect one from normal mode boss kills, and the last one from heroic mode bosses.

So it looks like they are still going with the geodes. I haven't seen anything regarding the alchemy transmutes on the PTR, those might not even be in-game anymore. Going to try and investigate that when I have more time.
