Leatherworking, Blacksmithing & Tailoring in 5.4

    Hey all,

I've been doing a little bit of research on some of the crafting cooldowns for Blacksmithing, Tailoring and Leatherworking for patch 5.4. I thought this might be helpful for people looking to keep up on their CDs when the patch releases because it looks like we will be learning the new pvp recipes via the daily CD method which will provide some gating to what items are available on the AH.

Blacksmithing - Balanced Trillium Ingot - requires 1 trillum bar - this could apply some upward pressure to the prices of GIO and trillium bars on the AH. Building a stockpile of trillium might be helpful to keep up on your daily research and/or to gouge on prices for people trying to keep up on their daily CD. The new pvp recipes also require more GIO to craft than in 5.2.

Leatherworking - Hardened Magnificent Hide - requires 2 magnificent hide - building a stockpile of magnificent hides to keep up on your daily research for the pvp patterns could prove useful. Also, having enough hides to craft the new pvp gear will be important to cash in on the pattern exclusivity you might have during the first week. The new recipes also require 2 & 3 magnificent hides rather than 1-2.

Tailoring - Celestial Cloth - requires 10 bolts of windwool cloth - on my high-pop server the tailoring pvp cloth market isn't amazing and there always seems to be cheap windwool cloth on the market. That being said, every realm is different and with more and more people looking to cloth to shuffle for cheap enchanting mats the prices could go up for a short period of time. Goblins will be looking to craft both pvp gear and create enchanting mats for the gear explosion that could occur during 5.4 with flex raiding implemented and a new 14 boss raid.

I hope this is helpful in terms of deciding what might be useful to stockpile. I don't advocate stockpiling mats just to sell back at high prices (although I'm sure this has created wealth for many goblins) rather stockpile cheap mats now so you can perform your CDs and keep up with crafting during the first few weeks of the patch.

    Cheers!

Leatherworking in 5.3 was a night mare, I have a hunter and I never got mail hunter recipes, I got every leather healing recipe which no one ever buys.

Ironically, I had the opposite luck... I got the mail patterns, but can't get the healing leather ones (I'm a resto druid, so I wouldn't mind having them)

TLR: New epic pvp gear DE's into sha crystals.

Alright, Iíve done a bit of testing and I wanted to share the results.

The three drops you need in order to learn the new patterns (http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=100864, http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=100865, http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=100863) seem to have 100% drop chance from mobs in the vale. I tested this with 3 characters each with one of the three professions. The first mob (I killed a different type of mob every time) I killed on all three characters dropped the patterns. Subsequent kills gave nothing, I tested this with approximately 100 kills on each of my characters. I did manage to get 2 leatherworking designs to drop at the same time, by killing the mobs simultaneously, but the second design didnít teach me anything.

Leatherworking: The design teaches you a random recipe for an ilvl 455 bind on pickup epic item. The recipe I learned requires 28 Hardened magnificent hides to craft. Thatís 54 regular hides to craft 1 BoP item.
The new epic PvP gear patterns you discover when crafting hardened hides, DEís into Sha Crystals 100% of the time, tested on 30 items.

Tailoring: Same as leatherworking. The epic item I learned to craft requires 28 celestial cloth. Thatís 280 bolts of windwool cloth.

Blacksmithing: Same as above. The epic item I learned to craft requires 21 balanced trillium ingots. Thatís 21 trillium bars.

Hope this info is of use to someone.

I don't expect that to make it live though, still stocking up on "currently cheap" Sha Crystals.

If the mats described above remain as listed, then it can easily make it on live. Take for example the cloth item. Let's assume one bolt of windwool cloth costs 1g (or one piece of cloth 0,20g=20silver). At that low price the cost of a sha crystal is not so much different than current price.

Can you confirm exactly what you're disenchanting? The new PvE BoP armor is ilvl 545, and the new PvP BoP armor is ilvl 476. Did you actually learn a 455 piece of armor? If so, can you identify the piece?
    Items disenchanted: 241,000+
    Materials produced from disenchanting: 576,000+
When NOT to Disenchant * Pet Cage Groups * Riches of Pandaria

Small typo there, meant to write 545. The items I'm DE'ing are the ilvl 476 PvP items you learn when you do your daily research.

Leatherworking is getting Drums of Rage. Not the final stats but still maybe another earner. It's a shame they put 50 uses in these things!

If the mats end up being cheap enough, might get these on all my alts that don't have some sort of BL to work their Tiller's farm when pulling all the critters at once. Time is money!
