    Dumb undercutter advice

I've been in a few markets, and recently I've come across some issues with the Glyph market. There are a few who are suddenly posting glyphs for 3-10g a piece. My threshold is 20g due to farming my own herbs. More and more glyphs by these same 2 or 3 characters are being posted for insanely low prices. The TUJ market value on these, and other auctions are up for 100-250g, but these undercutters drop to <10g. I have tried resetting a few glyphs back to 250 (by buying their cheapo auctions and reposting), but then next day, 5 more popped up for <10g. How do I either push them out, or find some way to show them how stupid it is. I understand if it was "Hey, I need to quickly offload these", but now with the quantity over the last few days.

I am US-Aegwynn-Alliance. What advice can you guys give me? I am at a loss.

Check into the prices of raw herbs. Sometimes old world herbs are 10g per stack and you can actually afford to sell them for 10g each.

Check out the people who are posting and see what they are posting. If they are selling 3 (example) of each of multiples of glyphs they are prob trying to push you out. If you see someone posting 6 of one glyph, and no others its pretty common for them to just dump them on the ah.

Here is one, and here is another. These two look to be leveling their professions, so I guess I can't do much about it. Just seems odd to undercut someone by 200 gold.

It's possible they don't have addons and don't realize how much they're undercutting by.

It's also possible they don't care. More interested in just unloading the item then having to relist it, and are all to happy to have you buy them up.

First of all, I don't get how your treshold is lower because you farm your own herbs. If this makes the glyphs cheaper than you can sell the herbs for on the auction house, why not do that instead?

Secondly, which glyphs are these people posting? If these glyphs are learned from trainer than they are just unloading the glyphs they had to make to level inscription, these people will always show up from time to time and I wouldn't suggest doing much against it. So I wouldn't suggest resetting trainer glyphs either.

There are two strategies to sell glyphs:

    1) Post, and repost everytime you get undercut.
    2) Post and forget.

The first approach can make a lot of gold, if you post fast and often enough to dominate the market, and if you manage to keep prices high.

The second approach has the advantage that it takes much less effort, and it can make a moderate amount of gold. However, it only works if you tank the market to the point where people abandon the first approach.

If they are doing this repeatedly with a large variety of glyphs they are very possibly trying to shut others out of the market. You could always try contacting them via a /tell or in-game mail.

I'll also join Mithrildar in inquiring why you set your threshold lower because you gather your own herbs? What's the rationale for this, and how exactly do you figure it into your price-setting? AH antics by other sellers aside, you may be hurting yourself with that.

Ive never actually bought the strategy of selling herbs instead of glyphs.
I personally will sell a glyph, even at a loss(not a large loss), rather than giving my competitor a sale. I feel its worth the investment of them getting bored and just leaving.

I never thought about just selling the herbs as opposed to the glyphs. I wanted a number that gave me a 'profit' I felt was worth my time farming the herbs. Before I recently maxed herbalism, I was just buying cheap mats, and making the glyphs, so I figured my threshold could be lower and more uniform since my only cost was time. This now seems like a bad idea since selling the herbs for more than the glyph would 'cost' would make more gold. I knew I must have been overlooking something. With something like this, I assume I'd want to make my threshold in TSM_Crafting. Is there a dynamic way to set up "only craft if the value is more than the herb"?

@daD , I did try this a couple of times, but it only made them post more of the same at the same low price.
