Thread: Blacksmith Shuffle for Enchanting Mats (Shards/Essences)

Hi all,

I am deeply involved in the scroll business on a med to high pop server and on peak times I am also heavily camping the AH. Therefore I have a quite high throughput on enchanting mats and ran into a bottleneck regarding [Ethereal Shard]. Even when starting to DE most of my blue jewelry from the regular shuffle I was coming short on these. So I started looking for alternatives and this one has proven to be quite lucrative.

Since I have masses of cheap [Ghost Iron Ore] available I was checking my blacksmith’s recipes to see which items uses least of it by producing a iLvl 450. Result were [Contender's Revenant Bracers] and [Contender's Spirit Bracers] which both only take 5 bars (equals half a stack of ore).

Disenchanting these will grant you 1-2 [Small Ethereal Shard]. So here a quick calculation for the outcome of this shuffle (based on 30g per stack of ore, which is even the higher end of ore price on my server):

Stack of Ghost Iron Ore: 30g
Price to craft bracer: 15g
Cost for small ethereal shard: 12,5g (I just divided the bracer cost by 1,2 as I currently don’t have any measures about how often we procc 2 shards in the process)

• [Ethereal Shard]: 37,5g (price on my AH is currently around 66-73g)

When getting the shards so cheap I am selling a big bunch raw on the AH, use lots to not run out of scrolls and sometimes also even break some down into 3x [Mysterious Essence] each. With the above numbers this will put you at a price of 12,5g per Essence, which is also quite nice to fill shortages or put higher volumes through the AH.

Unfortunately the shuffling process takes quite some time due to the 5 sec cast for the bracer craft. This hurts a little if you are used to the 1,5s timer for the jewelry shuffle. But still for me worth the while.

For non-Blacksmiths: You can also have a look at the Tailor (3 [Bolt of Windwool Cloth]) and Leatherworker (12 [Exotic Leather] Or [Prismatic Scale] bracers you can craft and how cheap you get the raw mats and do a quick calculation to see if this is profitable for you as well. For me the cheapest mats I get my hands on in the required volume is still [Ghost Iron Ore].

Even though it's quite trivial I hope it helps one or the other Goblin out there.

See the problem is that you have cheap ore 30g and are still selling enchants, I am jealous.
My enchants are extremely slow compared to Cata. I could always sell a couple enchants every day no matter what.
Now my enchanter is so low on the profit order Inscription -> JC -> Blacksmith > then comes enchanting...its very hard for me.
I could litterally post 200 enchants right now...and maybe one sell in the next 48 hours.
That killed me.
If I could buy ore at 30g , I would be prospecting, making living steel bars, getting my lotus from tillers and xmuting blue gems.
But ore on my server is not that low.

Good luck , keep crushing that blacksmith into enchants! I am jealous!

@EnigmaticClarity Azshara is one of the small realms , I think cause I just can't get to enchanting and other people do randoms all the time...I do not do 5 man's or raid. So I assume the bigger guilds have an enchanter.
