Thread: What to do with the uncommen gems?

I searched but didn't find a thread about it - if I have missed one, I beg your pardon in advance.

So I sell cut and uncut rares, perfect cuts, 450 jewelry...
I had my guildies mass-prospect, usually only around 2k- 3k ore a couple of times a week, but we went up all the way to 78k ore (the absolute record for us lol) on one evening. I like to keep 20 of each cut, rare and perfect, at hand, because I simply hate cancel -repost, I only post.

But now, due to keeping 20 of each perfect uncommon cut and making the rest into jewelry for DEing, I am left with 2 and a half 6tab guild banks (15 tabs >.<) full of yellow, green, red and blue uncommon gems. The orange and purple ones are used for perfects and jewelry and I constantly run out of them.

I am a hoarder, I just can't "throw away", or vendor, stuff I MIGHT put to good use at a later point in time. But with that uncommen gems.. Unloading at the AH is no option, it is floaded and the gems sometimes are posted even below vendor-price.

Buying orange and purple uncommon gems to fill up my stock and make them all into jewelry is also no option, because purple and orange gems usually go for around 5 -6 g, sometimes more, that would be a loss even now that I plan to enter the enchanting market again.

I am simply at a loss here what to do with all the uncommons. Just vendor them and be done an over with them? Cut them and vendor them for the bit of gold that would net me additionally (time is no issue here, I have a JC on my second account to do afk-work). Hold onto them, "just in case"? Or do I miss something here and I could have profited off of them all along, I was just too blind to see a possibility?

I sell them on Ah in stacks of 5 they sell quite well and pretty quick.

I don't know about "now", after the nerf, but pre patch they didn't move at all on the AH, as I said. At least not the colours I have so much of :S

Well yeah... I fill up all cuts to 20 (more just makes no sense - alone for the bagspace needed), make the rest into jewelry and DE. That still leaves me with right now 15 tabs of uncommons I don't know what to do with.

I might try it out once I have a solid stockpile of enchanting mats, I'm pretty low at the moment

Because everything is server dependent you do everything in equal amounts and what ever works for you , you rinse , wash , repeat what works.
1) Sell Raw - my server too low
2) Cut 50% of them - perfects will sell horde side, and the left overs vendor some , send some alliance side , cause my server is horde heavy...few jc on alliance
3) Rings and Necks sell the blues for 225g each and disenchant the other 50% sell some raw enchanting materials sell some scrolls,,,see what sells , re-craft what sells, re-post what doesn't sell or vendor it if bag/gbank space is an issue
4) If your server is so flooded with people doing the complete shuffle -> send some ore to a miner for bars -> trillium -> living steel.
5) Send the other bars to your blacksmith, make that ghost forged ore, sell the blues for 500g each sell the greens for 150g.

I have to get my blacksmith/scribe(now level 87) to 90 after I get my pally tank to 90 (currently level 89 73%).

There's a use for all of them, don't vendor the things. Jimmyolsenblues above put it about right, however there is no cut and dried answer as to exactly what you do with them.

Check WoWhead out and look at what each is actually used for. Greens and Blues have very limited uses, and I generally will cut these into the desired cuts hoping for perfects if I have an abundance of them.
