    Relearning Engineering on the cheap

You're a 525 Engineer, but say, want to have a gathering profession the first month of MoP, but you don't feel it's worth releveling again.

    Let's change that!

First off, if you don't have Goblin specialization, get it, and learn the Goblin only recipes. Especially [Global Thermal Sapper Charge].

Now you are safe to drop engineering...go play with your herbs...

Now, when you decide to relevel engineering, just get to level 200. (mainly stone and copper)

Do the quest to get Goblin Engineering, and immediately you will relearn [Global Thermal Sapper Charge]

[Global Thermal Sapper Charge] stays orange from 200 to 425 and only take 1 [Saronite Bar] and 1 [Volatile Blasting Trigger]

Total mats for 200-425: 225 [Saronite Bar], 340 [Cobalt Bar], and 10 [Eternal Water]

Now you only have 75 skill points to get to MoP engineering!

This hint was taken from a 70 twink engineer on my realm - you can only learn 1 tinker at 70, and if you get the wrong one, you have to relevel engineering until you get the one you want.

@Nornian It does sound like an exploit.

It does smell like an oversight on Blizzard's behalf, but that does not stop anyone from using it.
We can speculate it is a bug, but as far as the average player is concerned, we don't know we are exploiting it.
At that, I would be very cautious how you use it. Don't rely on it, and don't get upset if it gets fixed. Do I think you can get banned for it? Probably not, unless you go blabbing about it and tell people you have been intentionally using something that you know is an exploit.
If you claim ignorance, because hey, as far as you know it's working as intended, then Blizzard will most likely just tell you it's a bug, not to use it, and then fix it,

Whats the oversight here? The fact you learn the goblin recipes immediately, or the fact a recipe stays orange from 200-450 ? or both? interesting find

Probably both. I must add, this has been available to do since cata, perhaps before.

The recipe giving points at those levels is fine; it needs saronite. It's the fact that it can be taught earlier that is wrong.

I've used it multiple times to level engineering on my 70 twink, works like a charm.

Do you have an(other) example of a recipe staying orange for 250 levels?

Though the reason it is orange is that appears way lower than it should. so I guess the underlining issue is the level it appears, and as such should be reported.

You have more than a valid point about knowing that it's not intended. But what makes you think that the consortium community would be more ethical than any other community? If anything a major part of us has no remorse to rip our peers one off. Many of us buy/sell/use botted mats & duped gems/mounts, being fully aware of it. Hec, I know 3 guys who frequently post on this forum and who admitted to me they were AH botting on my realm (after confronting them with their strange patterns). So sorry to burst your noble bubble, but it's no different here than anywhere else.
