@Namssob Can you give an indication on what kind of prices you are charging with a full Cata kit?

Some professions have become easier, such as BS and JC as the low level ore is available in abundance, while on the other hand you need to level to 525, which requires a lot more mats.

I currently charge 12k for a full 1-525 kit. I started charging 10k, and realized it was a tad on the low side. I will accept gold + traded mats, but those mats need to be VALUABLE using current TUJ pricing, not what the buyer thinks the item(s) are worth.

I also charge a premium for "partial" kits. Can't remember all the prices off the top of my head, but I don't have too many folks buying them (I've sold a FEW partial kits, but mostly full kits)

Keep in mind that the abundance of low-level ore is not true in every case. Part of the "technique" here is keeping AH supplies LOW or non-existent for certain bottlenecks in the process. I regularly buy out the entire supply of , , , low priced , and many of the gems that are derived from prospecting that ore, such as , , etc. And much of the Ore requires a compromise, i.e., do I turn it into bars (kits require 120 Copper, 120 Bronze (Copper + Tin), 50 Thorium, 15 Truesilver, or 10 Adamantite), but you need that ore to get the gems (55 gems from Adamantite, for example, takes a lot of ore!).

The same applies to combination mats. For example, a full JC kit requires -either-
    - + , -OR-
    - + .

Getting the is easy after prospecting ore, but the essences and Powerful Mojo? GOOD LUCK! I make sure the AH is always empty of those mats, making it impossible for anyone to level JC without my kit, or farming the mats. And good luck farming them, as they are difficult to farm (especially the ).

So... IMO, the kit is divided into two "sections" - a "hard to get" section (most of the old world mats), and the "expensive" section (the Cataclysm gems, including 20 s). Have Transmute specced Alchemist helps with getting plenty of s.

I will add that my number one "missing" item(s), the things I am always short of and trying to find are the following:
    - (and the optional combination of the )
    -
    -
    -

Sadly for most of you, much of my profit is STILL coming from stockpiled mats from Wrath. For example.... each JC kit requires 45 (I provide 55) . Easy to find for 5-20g on the AH, but I have 3 bank tabs full of it I paid 2-3g for pre-Cata. And I still buy up the cheap stuff keeping your AH cost high. Same with the 70x Wrath gems (ALWAYS use , as it's the cheapest of those gems!). I have 2 bank tabs full of it, AND....too many bank tabs full of available for prospecting when needed.

Something that I have been considering doing, is just creating bottlenecks on certain items required to level professions, literally making it impossible for people to level it unless they buy from me.

Anyone who has leveled leatherworking recently, this will ring a bell:
    • Heavy Hide (need 20)
    • Thick Leather (need 410)
    • Rugged Leather (need 410)

For most of those you will be paying about 70-150gold a stack (if they are even on the ah).

I've been considering this as well since there are some really tough bottlenecks along the way for some professions. Leather is the easiest to corner as there is no way to circumvent your monopoly. Additionally, skinning is annoying compared to mining as you need to kill and loot the mobs.

Herbalism is probably also an option; Firebloom/Sungrass are probably the best candidates to corner as they are used extensively and not easily available (Tanaris/Thousand Needles is pretty far away for Alliance for example)

Regarding BS/JC, then I think it is best to stay away from the classic mats. When I leveled my last char with mining I had enough ore to powerlevel BS and ˝JC. I think the best spot candidates here are Fel Iron and Adamantite as people spend very little time in Outland and the gathering has not been returned to match the new leveling pace.

I'm going to try that today (if I have the time and bagspace for it). It should be better to stockpile during the week, as it seems a lot of powerlevelers consider it a weekend activity for some reason.

Little hint for Sungrass / Firebloom: There are LOTS of them in Burning Steppes, right outside of Stormwind.
    Milestones: 10.02.2011: 100k / 09.06.2011: 500k / 21.07.2011: 750k / 10.08.2011: Goldcap! / 28.03.2012: GBank at goldcap - 2 million fluid!

How were you thinking of going about that Sin? Buy them up off AH all week and then gorge them on the weekends? Or were you going to have a farmer get them for you? Just curious, sorry for the OT

I was more just planning to add them to my dealfinder list and grab them all up when ever it's below a certain price.

There aren't normally more than say 5-15 of them up at any time anyways.

Just saw this post this morning. Thanks for the detailed info! This is an idea I've toyed around with for a while now, and with your info I have decided to employ. My first kit was alchemy and sold within 30 minutes of being put together for a 3k profit. I also let the buyer know that they are to receive a 5% commission for any buyer they bring to me. Looking good so far! I think my next few are going to be for secondaries (cooking/first aid) and see how that goes.

I've tried this myself and maybe I wasn't patient enough, I ended up using my alchemy leveling kit on an alt of mine.No regrets though, having alchemy on that alt has paid more then tripple of what the kit would've sold for

Is there any other way to actually "sell" the kit other than inviting them to a guild? What if they are wanting the profession on their main and don't want to lose their current guild reputation?

I suppose I could ask them to pay up-front via trade, but they would have to wait for all the materials to come through the mail. Anyone have any better ideas?
