Thread: tailoring MoP prep and bag types

For all the tailors out there, as MoP comes out many folks will be rerolling a monk. With a new toons comes the responsibility to give it bags. I can see that there will be a spike in demand for bags. I will speak out all the different bags that can be used by many different groups of people in azeroth. I will try to go over on how to market all the new banks to all segments of WoW society in every sociecomical class from rich to poor. This this the investment is diversified.

Netherweave for the poor
Netherweave bags are cheap to produce and the most inexpensive bags on the AH. This is the perfect bag for all the very poor people whom can't afford anything better. And yes there are a huge population of gold poor people in WoW. This segment has great difficulty being able to afford things. This product targets the lower class of world of warcraft. You won't make as much per bag as the other classes but if you sell huge volumes you should be able to make gold even out of the poorest segment of WoW society.

Frostweave for working class
The next level is frostweave bags, people whom can afford these bags, but can't afford anything better. This group can usually afford the very basics of things in azeroth. This class of bags will cater to the lower middle class of world of warcraft. You have the luxury of being able to afford a bag better than those used by the lower class.

Embersilk for the middle class
The next level is embersilk bags, its for people whom have more gold than the lower class, and the lower middle class. This is the bag that caters to the middle class members of the WoW society. They can typically afford many things in azeroth, and am considered well off. You should be able to make a decent amount of gold selling to this class of WoW players.

Illusionary for the upper middle class
Higher up is the illusionary bag, this bag is for people whom have a fairly large amount of disposable income laying around. So I would say this bag will cater to the upper middle class. Those people can afford many luxury items in azeroth as well. You will not sell many of these since the upper middle class in WoW is a pretty small number. But each bag should be more profitable than the other bags that are produced.

MoP bags for the super rich
MoP bags: for those people whom are extremely wealthy, ie part of the upper class, they can afford whatever luxuries they want, consume the finest luxuries out there that many the folks in azeroth can't afford. If you happen to power lvl tailoring before anyone else and sells those high priced bigger slot MoP bags, the extremely rich would be able to afford those bags.

Profession only specific bags
Other misc bags: there are many other profession only bags/toolboxes with many slots: leatherworking, inscription, mining, herbalism, enchanting, jewelcrafting, fishing. You can only put profession only items in those bags, but they are cheaper than the general purpose bags. There might be a market for folks whom use those bags when they reroll a monk and pick a specific profession. I profession only bag helps save bag space if they are doing professions.

As far as the mats go I would go about making the cloth into bolts, and storing it in the guild bank. It's far more efficient space wise to store bolts rather than just straight cloth or the finished product which are bags. Plus if you ever happen to change your mind, you can always use the bolts to produce something else.

I came up with this different types of bags used by different range of people with different incomes for this reason; in the enchanting market there is also the same concept. Too poor to be able to afford a +20 stats to chest enchant, well the other option is to get a +15 stats enchant to chest. From selling enchanting scrolls there's folks whom buy the +20 chest which cost a fair bit more, then there are folks whom only buy the +15 chest enchants whom don't have much gold at all. This goes the same for the +50 critical strike to cloak, and the +65 critical strike cloak which cost much more. To have diversity in the market you have to cater to different groups of people in your sales.

Well I think that some bags don't sell great, for example on my Server 18 Slot bags are much more expensive then 16 Slots bags, but 20 Slot bags are quite in the same price class as 18 Slots bags.

So I will stock up some Netherweave Cloth and maybe Embersilk if it drops a little, but with over 5g each I think it is a bit too expensive.

I'm counting on huge and brisk sales of netherweave bags at Mists. I'm hoping very much that embersilk bags are also a big seller, and much as I hate to do it, I think I'm going to have to grind for my own cloth because I just don't generally see enough to justify buying it; only enough to make my dreamcloths for the week (tailor is only 80). I wouldn't bother grinding for cloth between now and Mists except I have an absolutely enormous amount of hypnotic dust, and it can't vendor, and I'm not willing to auction it for 50 silver each.

I don't try the professions bags market. Some are probably highly profitable, but I just don't see the demand. 36 slot inscription bag is REALLY cheap. 36 slot mining bag could be worth a lot but there's one guy on my server that camps that market, and I don't have the patience, with all the more profitable markets I have my fingers in.

What I will probably do, but lower priority, is stock up on the mats required to make the various profession bags and see what the market is like right when Mists hits. If new farmers are snapping them up, I'll jump in, otherwise do something else with the mats.

As someone who stocked up on Netherweave Bags for Cataclysm's release, I'd suggest making and selling the bags now. Holding them for launch day was a failure of epic proportions last time around, as half the people on the server had the same idea and the market totally collapsed. You could be stuck sitting on that cloth until early next year waiting for prices to climb back up to where they are now. (Not that stockpiling cloth is a bad thing, just be prepared to wait out the cycle.)

I'm ok with waiting it out, as they are perennial sellers for at least 150% profit. For Mists, I plan on dealing in a lot of markets at once, and storage space is limited. Crafting to order when the market is in highest demand is better for me to manage. Meantime I can focus on the other steady markets I'm in right now.

As a super rich and for my main, I always make sure to get the bags from a taylor that I like the name (close friends).

The materials for the illusionary bags where on cooldown at release (chaos orbs were soulbound and were used for crafting gears).
Not sure when it will be possible / accesible to craft the new MOP bags. It should be a trainer or a reputation based reciepe.


With AoE looting, you can forget the netherwave bags to recover in price, it will be worse than the first year of cataclysme.
I think it's safer to sell the bags now. Many people are rerolling and Neverwave bags are around 40-80g on my server.

For profession bags : Mining, Herbing should be a good choice.

Isn't AoE looting actually going to improve the market on netherweave bags? The amount of cloth supplied should be higher, and buying any cheap cloth showing on the AH and just stockpiling them while keeping the price for bags high is never a bad thing. On a good day I can move 50+ netherweave bags and I can see that improving. Against a 150 to 200% profit margin that's actually quite good. I would only wish the crafting time per bag would be lower
