inferno Ruby Trouble: Barely Making A Profit Shuffling

Hi all. Long time reader; very new goblin. Recently, I've attempted to shuffle on my server. After investing in about 100 stacks of elementium ore, sometimes I'm only getting about 20 Inferno Ruby (transmute specced alchemist changing all Carnelians too). The other sales (DE mats, vendor Zephyrite cuts)will make up about 25% of my profits. This really hurts here since diversification is usually important for a good Goblin's portfolio. In this case, with only yielding 20 inferno Ruby's, I barely recouped my costs. Is anyone else experiencing this time consuming and discouraging problem?

It's certainly not something I'm experiencing. However my advise to you would be to lower your cost for ore.

For me usually the [Inferno Ruby] from the shuffle pay for the ore (or even more). All the other stuff is profit. So maybe you should check if you need to get the ore cheaper. Advice: Might be worth to invest some time and throw your servers numbers into the Consortium Shuffling Spreadsheet (http://stormspire.net/addons-ui-cust...et-v4-5-a.html) this gives you a good indication on your profit ranges.

What are you doing with the non-red gems? Are you cutting and selling them as well?

You could also use some of your [Ocean Sapphire] and [Amberjewel] to cut the pvp jewelry (necklace and rings)- especially the [Amberjewel]-based ones can be quite lucrative (if you get your hands on cheap [Volatile Water].

Do you have an enchanter at hand? Then you could check if you can squeeze some more bucks out of it by selling scrolls instead of the DE-mats (or a mixture of both).

This is the time in an expansion where really intense undercutting can kill the profit from some markets. Depending on your server demand has probably fallen off quite a bit. Sometimes low priced ore also brings in new sellers who aren't as savvy or have lower expectations.

Definitely try to minimize your ore costs, look for alternatives to infernos (like carnelian spikes) or as a last resort search for other untapped markets.

As MoP approaches other people that do the shuffle will want to dump their inferno rubies as well, this might be the reason that it is getting less profitable.

Sounds like you got bad luck the ore should give 16 Rubies and 72x Carnelians. On my server at least the speed people are buying the rubies has Trippled. For me its just the supply of the ore thats hard to get here .

The odds of getting less then 1/2 the normal rubies is farly low. Also what kind of prices are stuff selling for as only 25% from the green gems is extremly low as I make as much as the rubies off them. Probaly will be down to 50% as much as i am just going to stockpile the 3 types used for the jc quests as long as the markets as fast as it is currently.

Exactly. You can't base profitability calculations on a streak of bad luck. That will always happen as long as there is a random factor involved. So, the real question is, is the ore shuffle profitable at 40 inferno rubies per 100 stacks, which is what you will get on average without transmute spec? As long as the answer to that question is yes, you keep shuffling.

I myself have been lucky enough to grab stacks of elementium ore for around 42-46g per stack. I just keep checking.Inferno's are going for 15g each on my sever and the profit cut is usually 20-40g. I use the carnelian to make shadowspirit diamonds and more inferno rubies. Orange, green and purples i turn into de mats and make scrolls. Example spent 3k on ore (not quite 100stacks) put was able to profit 5k so far in gem sales haven't added my scrolls yet but it would push me right above 10k.
