    WOTLK green and blue gems

Hello, this probably might sound a bit obvious, but i wanted other opinions other than mine. On my server (i've relocated) there is a pretty steep gap in my servers economy where there is rarely and wotlk green / blue gems that aren't severely overpriced (if there is any at all). I would love to hear some thoughts as of what to do with it seeing as im rejoining the WoW world since... January, and i have seem to have forgot everything /facepalm silly me.

Thanks for dealing with my newly found obscurity to WoW

    _Chyp

If saronite prices are good, prospect it, cut the blues, and use the greens to make Icy Prisms (cooldown has been removed) and enchanting mats. Do your Wrath dailies and use the Dragon's Eyes to make Nightmare Tears. Buy epic gems with JP and cut them. If the price of Frozen Orbs is very high, you can also use excess JP for orbs to make Prisms.

I'm not sure what question you are asking?

If it is "I think there is a gap in the market, can i make money by selling WOTLK common gems?"
then i would say almost certainly not. The pattern of demand for your gems is likely to be long periods of inactivty, with big spikes where someone is powerleveling jewellerycrafting. I think in that situation you will find that all your potential profit is eaten up in deposit costs.

If it is "I need a whole load of WOTLK common gems and the prices are far too high, what can i do?"
then i would recommend farming for northrend ore and prospecting them yourself. If you are powerleveling yourself, its a good way of getting your mining skill up as well. Competition for ore in northrend is likely to be very very low, and there is still a market for epic northrend gems, especially with level capped pvp twinks.

I've found a bit of profit in the WOTLK gem market - however my JC knows most of the blue cuts and a few epic ones. My server often has people dumping uncut blues for under the cut vendor price so I usually pick those up, cut them and sell on AH. It's not a fast moving market, and I usually don't bother with it if there's competition due to the deposit costs.

Depending on the price of those green gems, there are two primary options I see...

    1) Combine [Bloodstone], [Sun Crystal], [Huge Citrine], and [Chalcedony] with [Crystallized Earth], cut them jewelry, DE it, and make gobs of gold selling [Infinite Dust] and Essences.

    2) Sell the gems flat out on the AH. Again, it depends on the value of the dusts and essences, but anything ovcer 4-5g for each gem should be a better sale than the dusts. Below that, and the DE option is better.

Keep in mind, the crafted Jewelry from #1, above, vendors for 3.14g. So when [Eternal Earth] is <5g and the gems are 1.6g or less, you're making about 20% just vendoring the crafted jewelry.
