Notes on learning and making Lightning Steel Ingots
No news here, just a recap for blacksmiths when stage 4 opens, on how to learn the new daily [Lightning Steel Ingot] cooldown:
1. Kill Itoka (58,34), just outside the Thunder Forges room. Soloable by a good dps, or a bad dps with decent self-heals. Shared tag if there are others around. At 50% health, you get a bit of a breather, where you have to click on some totems with lightning arcing around them. The only damage during the lightning is from slow-moving roaming sparks, and sparking water surrounding the totems. The water around the totems conducts, so take your time jumping on platforms in the water to get next to the totems, then click to deactivate them.
2. When he dies, he has a pretty decent chance of dropping quest-starter [Strange Metal Ingot]. On one toon, it took me three kills, on a second toon, it took me one kill. He respawns in about a minute, so just keep killing till you get it.
[UPDATE 3/28]: From 3/27 hotfix patch notes: "Itoka's http://media-azeroth.cursecdn.com/ic...s/16/94721.jpg Strange Metal Ingot can now be looted by multiple players." Previously Itoka would give it to only the first looter.
[UPDATE 3/27]: You must be level 90 to accept the quest from [Strange Metal Ingot]. You can loot the item on lower level toons, but the quest has a minimum level of 90. (Thanks Branikald). The quest is not shareable.
There is no engineering drop at this time.
3. Accept the quest and click the doors to the Thunder Forge near Itoka to turn it in. There are two guards outside the doors; you can kill them, stealth past, or open the doors and keep running to the opposite side of the room where they'll reset. Turn in the quest and you'll get a container of [Notes on Lightning Stabilization], which contains seven blacksmithing plans ([Plans: Lightning Steel Ingot] and six transmog weapons).
That's it! It takes 10 [Ghost Iron Bar]s to make a [Lightning Steel Ingot], and you'll learn one new recipe each day you make one, until you've learned all 56 recipes. Six are for new [Haunting Spirit] epics, 18 are for transmog weapons, and 32 are plate PVP gear. The PVP gear recipes take 8, 10, or 15 [Ghost Iron Bar]s to craft (8 for wrists, 10 for feet waist hands and shoulders, 15 for chest legs and head). [Clarification]: You can use any anvil; you don't need to go to the Thunderforge every day. (Thanks hag).
