    Login System Poll

We need some feedback on the login system. There has been a lot of issues with the company we chose to go with. Now the community will decide the next coarse of action for this system.

Let me breakdown the Pro's and Con's of each option:

    Sticking with uLogin:
    Pro:
    - No need to change
    Con:
    - The current issues with some users unable to get in due to a conflict on uLogin's end.
    - The chance uLogin will stop supporting other Social networks.

Migrating to a new Social Network system:
(If you want more info on the new provider and what they info we'd have access to check out: http://janrain.com/products/engage/engage-pricing/)
    Pro:
    - Better support based in the US
    - Less invasive at sign-up. (We have adjusted things to only require email now)
    Con:
    - May need every user to login and add the new system if the engineer team cannot migrate it for us
    - Costs $10 per month to use them for a user database larger than 2500 users. We currently have over 3000.
    - Costs will jump to $90 per month if we hit 5000 users.

    Move to a username/password system.
    Pro:
    - Everyone that is already has signed up has an account. They'd just need to reset their password.
    Con:
    - I don't want your passwords on my server :P

I don't care, just let me use the app:
Not sure there is a pro/con layout for this group. But if you pick this option, please give a viable solution that you think would benefit the community.

I personally say just stick with the current system, but then again I didn't have any trouble when I signed up (I signed up on the test site, Sapu gave some of us early access). Have you looked into something like OpenID?

    Also, *course :P

OpenID is an option in uLogin (and probably Janrain too).

Ahh I thought it was it's own system? Like it lets you log in with twitter and whatnot doesn't it? Maybe I'm confusing it with something else haha

OpenID is a common login system that is supported by many popular sites (ie Yahoo / Google / Facebook) as an alternative to that site's login system with the idea being you don't have to remember a different password for each site. What uLogin is doing is getting a unique key from your Google/Twitter/etc account that it stores along with your email / name / DOB in our database so that next time you login it'll know it's you cause the key given by Google/Twitter/etc matches the key that's already in the database. This key isn't something that can be used to log into / get access to your account or anything like that. That's my understanding of it at least.

I vote for "borrowing" the system from wowuction - that seems to "just work"

Of the social networking options that uLogin has, twitter is the only one that I could use that keeps me anonymous, and uLogin isn't connecting to twitter at the moment. So it seems to me that a normal user login interface directly on the forums makes the most sense.

This and only this and I think this is the best option. Why would you sign with companies that charge you depending on a number of subscribers? To be honest, I don't really care if you store my password because this will be a simple password only for this service: like etc.
