    Not getting XMPP Notiifications

I tried out the XMPP notifications, and I'm not receiving anything, though I am getting email/RSS notifications for things. It's not that I'm not getting the Push (which is really what I'm after), I'm getting nothing at all. Am I missing some kind of setting? Do I need to enter the two words as an IM just the first time or do I have to do it every time I want a notification (which seems to defeat the purpose of a notification, since if I'm already on the website I can just look at the RSS feed).

I'm using the OneTeam XMPP client, if that makes any difference. This will be a terrific feature, if I can get it to work right.

Send an IM to the address with anything, like "hello". The bot should respond back with "What?". If you don't receive anything back, then the bot probably didn't get your message, which probably means your IM service doesn't support XMPP federation.

Nope, no response, even though OneTeam claims to support XMPP federation. Are there any iPhone apps that do support XMPP federation?

I did get the initial message of "Hello, Gardibolt! We will send messages to .... when that account is online." But nothing else.

Technically, it's not the client app that matters for XMPP federation, but the server. However, I did look through the logs, and I see that your server is oneteam.im as well.

Also looking through the logs, I see that it received your original message that made the connection to your account, but it received no other messages from you. The only other odd thing is that your server reports you as "Extended Away", which may just be the way oneteam says you're offline, or maybe not. But when the bot sees "Extended Away", it won't send you automated messages. (It should still respond when you IM it, though.)

So, it's a long confusing story. To sum up, I'll follow up on this. When you send an IM to the bot, make sure your client isn't set to "Extended Away", though that may not help. In the meantime, I'll install a copy of oneteam and play with it, because I think this should work.

edit Upon further review, it seems one can only get an account with oneteam.im by buying the software for an iOS device, and I have neither iPhone nor iPad.

Again, everything looks like it should work, but the bot simply hasn't received any messages from you after that first one (and that's in the raw logs, before it even hits my code). Check your client config, and maybe try another IM service?

OK, I changed my settings and now I did receive a "What?" response to my test message. Does that mean I should be good to go?

The setting I changed (for reference of anyone else trying this) was under "Status in Push Mode" it was defaulted to "Unavailable." I changed it to "Online" and that got me to "What?"

EDIT: Yep, just got my first notification through XMPP. Push worked and everything. Sweet! Thanks for the help, Erorus.
