    Mean market price

Apologies if this has been answered I could not find it via search - "Mean" is too common a phrase apparently.

The Mean value that shows up in the addon and on the website. How many weeks of data does that include/is it just todays mean value?

Also for anyone using the TUJ data in TSM crafting are you using The mean value or market value.

"Mean" as a term is quite overloaded.

On a category page: "Mean" is the average (market price seen after every scan) over the past 1 to 2 weeks. It's a running average that gets reset every Tuesday. So today (Wed, May 11) it's an average of roughly 200 market price observations between May 3rd and May 11th. On Sunday (May 15th), it'll be an average of roughly 275 market price observations between May 3rd and May 15th.

In the realm-specific addon: The mean is same as the category page. Uses the running average.

On an item page: This "mean" isn't a running average, but is calculated from the actual market prices reported over the past 2 weeks. Since it's not a running average, it'll be more accurate, not to mention it uses more data points. So today (Wed, May 11) it's an average of roughly 350 market price observations between April 27th and May 11th. On Sunday (May 15th), it'll be an average of roughly 350 market price observations between May 1st and May 15th.

The "US Faction Market Price" is simply an average (mean) of the market price right now of the item across all realms for that faction.

The "US Faction Mean" is the average (mean) of the running averages of the item across all realms for that faction.

In the Curse/WoWI "General Edition" addon: Same as the "US Faction Market Price" and "US Faction Mean" values.

Basically, the market value is the actual observed value for one point in time (the most recent scan). The mean is a little fuzzier but is less sensitive to market fluctuations. The item pages will be more accurate than the category pages and the addon.

So ideal time for the addon to be updated for my specific realm would be on a Sun/Tue if I wanted the most accurate possible mean in game. Thank you for the clarification.

To continue on this if I do an XML expor. You end up with:
    * Market -> is the Market Price on the item page
    * Marketaverage -> does not correspond with the Mean nor the Market Price on the item page
    * Marketstddev -> does not correspond with the Standard Deviation on the item page

I am curious what the XML reports?

The Market Data API has the same data source as the realm-specific addon, which is to say, the same as the category page: running average and standard deviation.
