    Blizzard API forum

Blizzard has launched an official forum for API discussion. I've started a thread for feedback on the RAH API:
    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2369681951

Erorus, I'm sure they'd love to hear some of the issues you've run into with TUJ.

If we could get a bunch of people from the consortium to band together again for the sake of TUJ, it would be a HUGE opportunity for goblins everywhere if we could convince Blizzard to include sold data in the AH API. Sounds like they are currently leaning towards no.

I will be posting in the thread tonight, when I get home to my authenticator...

Don't spam in my thread, start a new one Remember that the API team is only responsible for making data that Blizzard already has accessible via the web. If Blizzard doesn't store sold auctions - and there's plenty of technical reasons to think that they might not - then the API team won't be able to do anything about it. They can't give us data that they don't have.

That's fair, but the Blue poster didn't shoot down the idea because it wasn't possible, he said they don't want to do it. To me, that would suggest it can be done, since it would have been much easier to come right out and say "not possible".

I don't know about you, but sold data would be way more valuable than even market value. Anyone can list something for any price, it's a whole other thing to actually sell it.

Worth spamming over , but I'm not talking about spam, Blizzard obviously doesn't respond to that approach, let's just +rep anyone that mentions the sold data to show how many people are in support of it. How does that sound? Nice compromise?

Heh, no, I missed it, but did notice his reply was edited. What did he say, basically?

Yeah, I may have asked for half the kingdom, but it's rare to get so much Blue attention that I figured I'd put it all out there, and they can follow/disregard what they want.

I'm fairly certain they don't throw away sold auction data. They use those logs for investigations of gold seller activity and other stuff like that. Whether or not they want to expose sold data is probably a game design decision more than a technical capability issue. I asked for it near the top to show its utility, and if we get it, I'll be surprised, tbh. Would be nice, tho.

They may never have an official guild chat API, but the minute it becomes a web app, there will be tools to monitor/automate it. There are a lot of people interested in that, including me.

I agree with you, Erorus. I'm sure they have that information. I, personally, don't think that it should be in the API.

It was something like you suspect: "You've asked for a long list of highly specific features, we have to think about what's useful for the community as a whole, don't be so demanding, etc." It seemed a little unwarranted; he did ask for feedback, after all!

I don't think they throw away sales data, but that doesn't mean it's structured in a friendly way to how we'd want to access it. I suspect most of their searching through those logs is character-oriented, looking for stuff sold by hacked accounts; and it's probably well after the fact, rather than near real-time. Or you could be right and they're perfectly capable of sharing, just choose not to - we may never know.

I don't think guild chat is actually going to be a web app. If you look at the promotional material (http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/1...ld-chat-update) and compare it to the Remote AH, the RAH specifically mentions web access in addition to mobile while the chat feature omits web. I hope we can get at it, but that omission seems deliberate.
