    Addon disconnects with paste.

According to the FAQ at TUJ:

"I paste the data but the game freezes so long that I get disconnected."

Try loading market data in a location with fewer players, such as outside the city, away from the auction house. This still may not help, but it's worth a shot.

Most of the time it does not help. I'll go to some far out zone with 2 people in it and I still get the disconnects about 80% of the time. Is there anything else that can be done to help this? Is it simply the amount of data that is the problem? Would something like unloading all other addons and just loading TUJ help at all perhaps? Or something else? Anything?!? Why does the paste cause the game to lock up? Is it a memory issue or something like that?

I'm thinking about abandoning the copypaste update method for the next version, and going with a "download the addon every time you want to update" or something similar. Hopefully that version will be out soon.

As far as I can tell, the paste causes the game to lock up because it spins its wheels figuring out the width of every character pasted so it looks pretty in the textbox.. and when we're talking about 60-80k characters, it was not designed to handle so many.

Could you potentially create a little batch script or exe or something that would open a window for them to copy paste into outside of wow and then that would save it into an lua file? I've done similar things with java. You could potentially even download it for them but that would get far more complicated because you'd need ways for them to select which AH they want to download (server / faction). Users would then just need to do a /reload to refresh the data.

I don't want to write any client-side code (outside of Lua).

All it takes is one dude to say, "omg, I downloaded your auction data updater, and I got hacked the next day, it's your fault, you hacker!" to make me regret releasing it at all. So I thought I'd skip right to the part of "not having an updater."

Or maybe a simple text file could be made available and then have people just copy it to their addons folder. Or give it "Import DB" functionality in game, similar to how Gatherer imports the wowhead database of mining nodes, etc.
