    New controls/notification pages

The new page looks really nice. I love the changes.

As an aside, I was going to suggest that the mean/std dev should be global rather than server. Then it occurred to me, I use this for an entirely different purpose than it was originally designed. So, perhaps a toggle or if there is no data, perhaps a little globe icon (hover text - "no data for your server, here's all alliance"). It's an idea, but it may add more confusion than value, especially since you could go to the page with a single click.

Wow, I just looked at it and yea, it looks great. A lot easier to read now.

    Awesome job!

I'll see if that can be done.

Thank you for the update to the site, it is indeed much easier to parse now for what notifications you have setup and managing them.

I have one suggestion however, which would be to add the price cap you have set on an item. Ex: I want a certain enchant recipe to send a notification when it is <5000g. Right now on the notification page it does not tell me my cap is set to 5000g.

    Thank you!

Did you mouseover the grey X at the end of that enchant's line? You should see a tooltip with that notification's info.

I was just using TUJ for some auctions and noticed an inconsistency, this time I am sure it is not just me! ;D

When viewing the notifications data on the user control page, it shows me some information about Volatile Fire (made sure I refreshed this data to be the most recent). As you can see (http://i.imgur.com/BHfqD.png) it shows a mean of 7.90g per Volatile Fire.

Now, that seemed a bit low to me since my notification is set for <10g and not something like <5g, so I checked the actual Volatile Fire page (http://i.imgur.com/jMts6.png). here you can see it advertises (the correct) mean value of 12.383g.

Both columns of data advertise themselves as being the average value over the past two weeks but are different. I only look at a single server, so there is no way I am getting alternate data from another server.

Let me know if I can get anymore info for you to help fix this bug.

EDIT: Upon further inspection I noticed that it is grabbing incorrect data for all my notification items. My best guess is that it is grabbing from the wrong server DB/table. If it helps at all, I am monitoring items on the Stormscale server, in case this is limited to only my server for some reason.

I've received a note or two on the same issue lately. Here's the short story:

The values you see on the items' pages are correct. They calculate the mean and standard deviation based on all the data points shown in the chart. These data points take time to collect, but when we're talking about one item, that time is short.

The values you see on the category pages are slowly becoming incorrect. They calculate the mean and standard deviation based on a running formula as the data gets parsed. Using this formula, I can provide the avg and stddev as a simple lookup of two values per item instead of looking at all data points for each item. This is why category pages are a lot quicker than before.

The problem comes in with my (incorrect) method for constructing a moving window. I want the avg and stddev to be based on the past 2 weeks of data, and ignore all data before that. The running formulas do not offer a way to prune old data like that. I improvised one, but it's apparently incorrect. Averages are creeping downwards, and it looks like standard deviations are creeping upwards from their true values.

For now, I'll nuke all average information so it'll start to work properly.. but I'll have to figure out some way to construct a moving window so months-old data doesn't affect the averages seen on the category and notification displays.

I love the new controls for notifications, also. I'm curious, though, what about editable thresholds for notifications in the notifications screen itself? With constantly changing price trends, it would be nice to have a faster way to change them than deleting the notification, going back to the item page, waiting for load, scrolling down, and adding again. Or am I doing it really wrong?

Also, I really liked having the name of the item in my notifications. I have my Digsby set to popup the email subject when I get new mail, so it works really well for be spotting a snatch when it pops up. Also, easier to check things on the iPhone, also.

What about editable notification messages? Using variables, this could be an amazing feature which helps out with quick notifications a lot. For example:

    "%s - %i now %gg" would become "Thrall - Shadow Hood now 15g"

Also, I haven't said it before anywhere else, so thanks for TUJ.
