    Classifieds?

Though it's not yet clear how these will be implemented, I can foresee this being a challenge.

Ideally, you'd want people posting "ads" for rare goods they possess/seek; TCG items, rare recipes/items, expensive epics, etc. Realistically, goblins will probably post their entire snatch list as WTB, which sort of defeats the purpose.

I'd love to hear how the implementation might go forward.

    My initial thoughts:

Must have a verified character on a realm to post an ad there. All ads will have the character name attached. Max 3 or 4 ads per realm per person. Ads must be short, maybe 200-250 characters or so. Self-choose a broad category from "WTB","WTS","Guild Related","Services offered","Services required","Other". Plaintext, no HTML. I want to keep the layout very simple, inspired by newspaper classified pages and craigslist.

I really really like the idea, but I realize that, unless it takes off, it'll be kinda pointless. I've hoped for people to ask for it and get excited, but haven't heard much. So it's been on the back burner a bit.

I think the problem is that you're competing with realm forums. Most people head there for these types of things. How would we go about encouraging the use of TUJ over realm forums?

Well, many trading forums (and even places like eBay) have systems where you can leave feedback and users can get positive ratings, etc. If it's some kind of service (for example a powerleveling service - as in boosting lowbies through dungeons or w/e), people are more likely to buy/sell from/to trusted people.

I was thinking of creating a similar site where you could advertise WTS / WTB as well as GDKP runs etc.. As well as services such as crafting goods for a price.

I decided to take a shortcut, and just crawl the realm forums and push them to the front page.

See I think this would work well if there is a reputation system, (like has been discussed) and if we narrowed it down to high priced items only. Say set a minimum avg gold price of 2500. (just 1st number that came to mind) I do not think every little item should be able to be listed and not sure I really like the idea of being able to list whole crafting professions, I think it should be narrowed down to ultra rare craftable items.

Also I think for items like GDKP and very high priced items you would be looking at people willing to server transfer and pick up those items. Especially for some of the high priced rare mounts. You get someone with high reputation on here, plus selling a extremely rare mount, I can see some rich goblins transferring a character to buy that item.
We live by the Golden Rule. Those who have the gold make the rules.
