    Ideas for managing notifications

I thought I would start a thread to talk about suggestions for managing notifications in TUJ. If people have ideas for this area, please feel free to post them here. A couple that I have thought would be useful:

    1) An ability to renew a notification. Right now, if a notification expires, you have to go to that item page and completely redo the notification you had. It would be nice to have an option in the expiration message to restart it. Or, having something similar in the "Market Notifications" section. Currently, the button is "Renew" or "Remove". If I could "Reset" the ones that are approaching two weeks unobserved, that would be very nice.

    2) Import/Export of market notifications. This would allow me to share my list with others, preferably not on my realm. ;-) It would also allow me to easily create identical notifications on the horde and neutral AH's.

Or a possible auto-renew button? The massive spam when all my notifcations expire is quite a pain. If I could renew all it would be great. Don't take this as complaining though, TUJ is the best resource out there. I was lost for those weeks without it!

Agreed, a bulk reset would be awesome as well.

It was my original idea that the notifications would be used for commodities and other commonly purchased things, or maybe one-offs (like rare RP items). You've expanded it greatly with the long list of ultra-rare items, and that's very cool. It's just not what I had in mind, which is why expirations are bit clumsy to deal with in the UI right now.

I'll see what I can do. If anything else comes to mind, feel free to add it here.

This may be simple or difficult...but notifications through text message? I tried using <phone number>@vtext.com in the email notifications, but it sends a verification over 160 characters. Vtext.com is Verizon, not sure if other carriers offer something similar.

I can configure my phone to have a certain ring when it receives a text from a certain contact. Adding TUJ, I would have an annoying ring tone that would wake me up when sleeping

EDIT: Here's a listing of the email addresses to send txt messages through, sorted by carrier. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SMS_gateways

Yes, please adjust the verification where verizon phones can recieve the verification email. One easy solution is putting the verification code in the subject or at the beginning of the email. And in regards to Twitter, no thanks, but good suggestion to people that use that site. Thanks.

Would it be much work to add an input field into the user control page - instead of having to scroll through each individual page? That would speed things up a bit, if you could just enter the item name and the snatch price.

It had been that notifications would expire when they were not triggered in two weeks.

It is now that notifications will expire when they were not triggered in two weeks, and the user has not logged in in two weeks.

So, just use the site as normal, logging in at least once every dozen days, and notifications shouldn't expire.

Woo hoo! This makes me very happy. Unfortunately many of my notifications had expired yesterday so I had to go back and add them again. Thanks Erorus!
