Hi, ... I assume you are talking about those 'funny looking' graphs that have appeared on TUJ (The Undermine Journal). I have noticed them but I do not know how to intrepret them. ... educate me.

I was loving those as well, until I hit one that was basically useless due to a single outlier. It was an item that was probably in the 1200-1500 range, but on one server someone had it listed at 200k. As a result, it wasn't very helpful. It would be awesome if the graph included the median price (not mean), excluded outliers or put "confidence bands" around the middle.

Yeah, I'm torn. I do like it better than the random bars that were there before, but I still think I would prefer being able to select some specific servers to compare against. That way, I could choose markets that had dynamics that were closer to mine (server size, pve/pvp, etc.).

The new scatter plots on the item page show you one point for each realm. The further you go to the right on the X axis shows the realm's total auction house size, and the further up the Y axis shows the market price for that item. Mouseover any point to see what realm it represents and the market price and availability of that item on that realm. You can click a point to go right to that realm's page for the same item.

Most points should be grey diamonds. Colored circles within a circle are shown for the different factions on the selected realm. I'm thinking of changing those characters to tiny graphics instead so it looks the same on all platforms.

    Love it!

One suggestion - the Y axis should have normal amounts, or at least round them to the nearest 100/1000/10000g. I don't want to have to use a calculator to find (28,049.12 - 7229.25 / 2) just to see the middle!

Can you tell me which item that was? That graph is designed to have the lower and upper bounds of the price at 3x the standard deviation away from the mean. Any far outlier should just sit at the top or bottom of the graph.

Already the X axis is the total market size, so to read that chart, you find the circle point that represents your realm, and look at other points within its vicinity along the X axis. However, giving the user the option to hide points based on realm criteria (pvp/pve, rp/normal, etc) could be useful.

I don't remember what it was off the top of my head, it was definitely a rare pattern that I have on my notifications list. I will keep an eye on my searches and if I see anything out of whack, I will post. Overall, I really like this feature. It makes a lot of sense to look at similar size markets. I was going to say that slicing based on realm type didn't make much sense, but I suppose it could for PVP related items and perhaps for RP type items like the dangui.
