Was just going to make a thread about this. Very SAD NEWS. Seriously sad news. Unless I am clueless, I don't know of another options for email alerts, "great deals", prospecting values of Ore / Bars, etc.

The Undermine Journal to Close by End of July
    July 8th
Due to our server hosting provider being unable to serve our needs, The Undermine Journal will close by the end of July. Until then, our ability to serve you is significantly degraded, with no updated auction history or seller information available on any items on any realm. Summary pages should remain unaffected, though we may be forced to stop updating them at some point.

We will try to stay open through the end of the month for notifications subscribers to get some use of their paid service, and obviously we cannot accept any new subscriptions.

Beyond July, the future of The Undermine Journal is uncertain. There will probably be a period where this site is completely closed. We may be able to find a new dedicated host, but there are a number of improvements that should be made here before Warlords of Draenor is released anyway. So if WoD is released and The Undermine Journal is down, it's probably not coming back. We'll try to keep a page up with details to keep you informed.

Thanks to all our loyal visitors and subscribers since 2010. Hopefully we won't be gone for long.

The Undermine Journal has been part of my daily routine for ages now. Very sad to see it go, but it sounds like there may be some hope of it coming back if they find a new host.

NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo! This makes me VERY sad...it's part of my daily routine as well, and there's currently nothing like it out there. Man....I REALLY hope they open back up...I don't even know what to say, to me this is like Wowhead closing

Oh that is terrible news. I was just about to renew my subscription which ends in a couple of days. Noticed that I was getting email updates but the website was not updating today. Don't know if one has to do with the other. No one else provides a service like UMJ. What a shame.

Is very unfortunate, would be interesting to know what the requirements to keep TUJ going are so we could maybe help out to resolve the problem.

Thanks for all the work you have done over the years however

More firepower can always be thrown at a problem, I have a feeling the issue is a bit more complex. Either way, a big thank you to @Erorus for everything he's done for us goblins over the past 4 years.

Hey folks, thanks for the comments, sorry about the closing.

We've been hosted at Linode since 2010, and things were great. 3 months ago I finally moved our main auction database out of my apartment to their servers since Linode claimed to have "high performance SSDs". However, while everything looked good on my end, yesterday Linode said the amount of resources I was using was way beyond their intentions. There was never a cap listed on any page of theirs, and it didn't look like I was negatively impacting anyone, but they say I am, and things have to stop. Either I reduce disk usage by like 90% or the server gets shut down. Obviously I can't maintain auction history under those restrictions, after all the optimization I've done over the years. I'm trying to keep what I can online so people who recently bought subscriptions get some of their money's worth out of it.

There's hope that maybe by the fall I'll have the urge to build a dedicated server in my apartment again, on a business-class Internet connection, and just host everything myself. But that's a lot of work to set up, as well as finally tuning the database to handle connected realms (and soon auction-connected factions) properly. And my day job keeps me quite busy anymore. So I don't know. I know if it's not back up by WoD release then it's not going up at all.

We had to close before, at the end of 2010, and we came back. I don't want to raise false hope because the future is really uncertain, but it's not like I 100% have to give up TUJ. It can come back, it'll just take a lot of work on my part. And I have to decide if I have the time and energy to do it.

Thank you for explaining the situation to us, am sure I can speak for all of us, when I say we appreciate it and everything you've done. Praying for a comeback Good Luck either way!

Is there anything I (or anyone else in the community) can do to help? Volunteering time (database/analyst experience)? Donating money?

Either way, I extend many thanks to you @Erorus and wish you the best no matter what the final outcome is.
