What do you like most about WoW?

Whether its people you've met, something about the game its self, an add-on that you like, the lore, looking things up about the game online, or even a sense that the game gives you. (A sense of accomplishment, for example) What is it you like best about WoW?

For me, one of the things I like best, and find most fun, is actually toying around with Talent Calculators. I love seeing what talents classes that I don't have, can use. And what those talents do. Just because I may not play a class for whatever reason, that doesn't mean I don't want to learn about it!

The fact that it never ends. I've played lots of single player CRPGs and they always have to end forcing me to look for another.

I love the fact that it's dynamic. Games like Civillisation and Sim City always floated my boat, but even with those incredibly detailed games you could gain such a level of expertise that you could essentially beat the game by understanding how it works. This is true for WoW to a certain extent, but because it's ever changing, it never really happens.

Also, you can never properly simulate real people. I love the mistakes, the beggars, the caps-lock kids and the scammers. Yes that's right - the scammers are part of the WoW world just like in real life. When i was playing Oblivion, nobody ever tried to rip me off. It's a love hate relationship. Oh, and by scammers, I don't mean gold sellers, as that's a scam that affects me which i can't avoid by being savvy.

Beggars are great too don't you think? Just like in real life, people are desperate and resort to the oldest money making profession, apart from the one that you can find practised in goldshire on a friday night....

I personally like the social aspect. I left my friends and family back home and a day behind, so playing WoW gives me a chance to have a social outlet while I establish my life here. The greatest part of the social aspect of the game is that while you're playing a game, you're not playing it alone. Human interaction and behaviour fascinates me and you observe a lot of this in interesting ways because of the nature of MMORPGs and especially WoW.

I also really enjoy the parts that keep me coming back, I mean, that makes sense right? I love the achievement and rep grinds, I love the boss wipes and crave boss kills, I love seeing my gold continue to climb, I love new content and Blizzard do a decent job at keeping things alive.

Personally, I've just always enjoyed role playing, fantasy worlds, and working toward ruling something I would not otherwise be able to do in the real world.

My favorite part of the game is the gold making. I see to always gravitate toward doing that in any game I play. I'm a Monopoly master (I once went 10-0 in a tournament, and 50-10- in another online tournament), and I love trading games like that. Secondary, is the the guild aspect of playing. I love leading a guild, helping others enjoy the game, and creating a team of players with like minds to enjoy WoW together!

I love exploring. The diversity of zones and the lore behind those zones (and creatures therein) is amazing.

I love the exploration, I love the quests, the lore, the friends. One of my favorite parts of the game is finding all the little hidden details they put in the game. For instance, the daycare center in Nagrand that is up in the mountains between Nagrand and Zangarmarsh. Has all the little babies from the different races just chilling. I remember when I stumbled on that, I spent an hour there just looking around.

A lot of great answers so far, and many of them I hadn't even thought of! A lot of what was said makes sense, like the exploring, earning achieves, and meeting people, or seeing how different people act in a given situation. These are things that, in the back of my mind, I liked, but never really thought about.

Also, I wasn't sure where to put this post. I checked off-topic, and it looked like there were a lot of non-WoW related stuff in there. Where as General seemed more related to WoW things, though not specifically on how to make gold. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

I would have to say simply the variety of entertainment possibilities available in a single game.

I have been playing this game for 5+ years now and i almost always have something new or different to experience. No one single aspect has kept me playing the game this long it has been many different aspects, often different ones at different times and often intermingled with each other.

For me the best thing about WoW is probably the lore, The whole story which binds every aspect of the game together, It is soo immersive I can get lost just reading wowwiki clicking on links to links of random Npcs. I think the story, however retconned it gets, is still just amazing. I havnt played a game with this much depth before which is probably the main reason im still playing.

The seconds best thing is the social aspect, being in a guild, making friends, even making friends with other bloggers, all because of one game.
