    Battleground: Horde/Alliance Win Ratio Statistics

This was posted on MMO-Champion, and I'm sure most of you have read it but for those who don't frequent MMO-C or haven't been there yet today, here it is :P

People often wonder what the Horde/Alliance win ratio in battlegrounds are, Blizzard never gave away those % but the question can be answered by scanning a lot of characters on the Armory and compiling their battlegrounds wins statistics.

    1. The first scan has been made a year ago.

    2. The "Battles in the Last Year" graph is basically this month's scan minus the results of last year's scan. Deleted/transfered characters were removed from the stats.

    3. Even if the amount of people scanned is huge, don't take these stats as a 100% truth. Only Blizzard can be 100% sure of that, especially since it's very hard to gather a lot of data from the Armory.

    4. Before you yell on forums, make sure you look at the % on the left, the lowest % is 42% and the highest is 58%.

The "Battlegrounds Wins in the Last Year" graph is the only thing you should look at if you want an idea of how things are balanced these days.

I rate it looks pretty accurate and I think anyone who has played Alliance - regardless of where in the world can back this up :P

I can't see the graphs from work but I'm going to guess that alliance gets owned across the board?

The graphs are a little misleading. The y-axis ranges from 40-58%. Therefore, the disparity looks much worse than it is in reality. In general, however, the average looks to be about 55% Horde wins.

Yeah, I think alliance is more appealing to younger players, inevitably this equates less winning. I can never coordinate a random AB or EOTS, every players does what he/she wishes independently. This was not the case when I played horde, where BGs could be coordinated to some degree. It's also harder to communicate to other alliance players, often I'm the only one typing in /bg, raging by myself at clueless/useless players.

I agree with you to an extent Sterling, but I also think that it's mainly a mindset that players are stuck into.

During pre-bc the win/loss ratio was pretty even (with Alliance actually having the favor in terms of terain in a few bgs).

However I think horde immediately became a more appealing faction for hardcore pvpers because it has a lot of uh how can I say it...lore that can help justify starting wars etc. So horde were more prone to being violent and aggressive.

Overtime horde started to win more, and alliance loose more. More and more of the diehard pvp fans are transfering to horde purely for the pvp aspect. Now with the addition of people being so competitive to get the best pvp gear as soon as it's released to give them a headstart in arena, there is a big incentive to play horde if you want to pvp.

Personally I've played alliance since pre-bc. Highest I've had is a level 18 troll shaman with RAF leveling lol. Simple because all my friends were alliance and I've just stuck with it ever since.

Likewise. Transferring so many characters would be too expensive. I wish blizzard offered a mass-transfer service.

I think the migration from alliance -> horde started with WotF being so powerful. But I could be wrong. I remember people crying about triple undead RMP teams and the like. From there on it just became a trend and horde has always been more popular amongst hardcore PvPers (with Bloodlust leading the way). But still, would this arguably small population of hardcore PvPers really make up the 5% difference?

There were some pretty good additional theories on MMO-Champ. Racials could play a part. General population/attitude differences could play a part. Differing queue lengths were suggested. Horde have longer queues so only those truly interested in PVP stay in queue. As a result, you have serious Horde players against a mix of serious and casual Alliance.
