Slow scans for cancelling and posting

Hello World (obligatory first post salutation
Has anyone else encountered VERY slow scans while posting or cancelling in the last two days? I have made no changes to my system or addons and TSM's scans are nowhere near as fast as they were 3 days ago. A scan for cancelling 200 glyphs was under 30 seconds and now takes about 5 minutes+
Thank you for your input in advance.

I use APM, and I have notice a gradual slowing of the cancellations on par with how many auctions I have up. 50 auctions = relativly fast per auction, 200 auctions = really slow per auction.

I have been thinking more and more about going over to TSM, but when I tried it 6-8 weeks ago, it didn't seem good enough. I am sure alot has happened since then, but when I read things like this, I postpone it yet again. :/

Are you doing scans in a more busy area than usual as that can dramatcially effect the times of AH scans?

I always post in the morning, mid-afternoon, and late evening. There's nothing different other than the fact it creeps so slowly through the scan. Could there be some sort of data glut somewhere? I know Auctioneer would have to be purged from time to time.

There is really no way that Auctioning itself would slow down AH scans (or even AuctionDB as it doesn't do any scanning / processing outside it's own scans).

Are you canceling / posting auctions while it's still scanning or waiting for it to scan completely before spamming the post / cancel button? If so, this is definitely what's slowing it down. Blizzard strictly limits the amount of AH-related communication that can happen between the server and your game client. This means if you are canceling while the scan is still going on, the server will stop sending new scan data until the cancel is complete and significantly slow down your scan. What I do and would strongly recommend is wait until the scan finishes completely (go to the bathroom or get some lunch while the scan is going) before starting to spam the cancel / post button.

Also, from your comments I don't believe you are, but if you are using auctioneer try enabling the option to block auctioneer's scans while Auctioning is scanning in the top options menu.

No... i always wait for the scan to complete. I'm watching an obscene amount of tv while posting and cancelling. The "Block Auctioneer" function has been checked. I'm really stumped as to why the slow down is happening now.
On the up-side, I am loving this addon. I'm making so much gold, I'm quite literally receiving death threats from competitors (so many crazies out there). Thank you!

Happy to hear that you're enjoying the addon . Don't mean to sound defensive or anything like that, but literally 99% of scan time is spent waiting for blizzard to send Auctioning auction house data so it's almost certainly just the server being slower than usual.

You can watch the scan (browse tab of the AH) and if you know what you are looking for it will be obvious if the server is taking unusually long to send data. One thing to look for is the amount of time between a query initially loading and all the seller names filling in (this is a good percentage of overall scan time). The other big part of scan time is the time between queries pages being loaded. If the "Search" button is gray, it means Auctioning sent the next query and is waiting on it to be loaded.

As an aside, the core scanning code in TSM is exactly the same as APM, QA3, and even Scroll Master's scanning code. There are really not that many ways to do scanning code. It's pretty straightforward.

"/tsm" (or click on the minimap icon)
"Auctioning Groups/Options" icon (2nd down on the right side).
"Options" page (top link in the list on the left of the frame - not the profession icons....that's too far left)

You should see it inside the "General" box of the "General" tab. It won't show up if you don't have auctioneer enabled.

Ahh, TSM, ty, I tried to find it in the auctioneer / auctionator options, and ofc I failed. Ty, I guess its time for me to upgrade from APM then.
