Anyone else notice Ghost Crawlers tweet?

    https://twitter.com/Ghostcrawler/sta...06029033418752

PTR Changes to Blacksmith leveling are inspired. Can we see Tailoring & Leatherworking getting the same treatment?
If the Blacksmithing and Engingeering ones are popular, we'll keep expanding it.

Does this mean we will also see Engineering leveling chance to use GIO soon too? If that is true then GIO might even be worth more soon.

The demand will probably rise a bit, but Blizzard can adjust spawn rates over night without prior warning.

    I think its stupid....
I understood cooking... nobody ever had cooking before mop let you stand in one place!

Making it so that you can get all these profs like this just bugs me!

And if both BS and ENG can do it, you might as well forget about selling old world mats.

It bugs me too, and it goes against Blizzard's recent efforts to revitalize old content with stuff like the raid pets and not needing a raid group to enter a raid. Phasing out the need for older materials is just bad and wrong, it's the same as phasing out old content.

I don't like this. partly, it is the "i walked to school uphill both ways". But not only does it get rid of old content, but what about levelers. RPers or bad with gold would try to keep their profession up as they leveled. I always did dual gathering until max level. So they will now have an incentive to wait until max level. And who will gatherers sell mats to if everyone is GIOing it at 90?

    ---
Engineering leveling, or at least a section, was made easier in MoP. Instead of using GIO, they took allowed you to level with cheap tinker mats from a vendor.

I have seen three GC tweets on this:

@Ghostcrawler Of all professions, which one could need the most work to be better in the next expansion?

@TSG_LAB I'd say Leatherworking, but would be interested in other opinions.

I am perhaps the most upset over the fishing one. A big appeal of fishing was how the attention-deficit-challenged crowd were unable to do it.

I spent hours leveling up blacksmithing and engineering on the weekend, and that was using a guide and having a friend farm most of the mats for the shopping list I gave him.

Even with all the mats on hand it was still a frustrating and time consuming experience, you can't tell me that anyone would actually enjoy this part of the game so why not make it more convenient/easier to level?

I'm all for Blizzard making it easier to level professions, it such a stupid and expensive process to level professions now.

I could care less if leatherworking got made easier to level, I just want it to join the big boys club with it's prof bag. 2 expansions and we are still stuck at a 28 slot bag

Ok. I suppose that i'm all for leveling being "easier", but by doing all these profs this way, its phasing out the oldworld mats.
There would be no benefit to that new player getting mining and herbalism to "I'm gunna gather to make GOLD!" if the oldworld mats arent used to lvl profs as much as before, the market would be insanely flooded, and probabaly be a few silver or 2 above vendor price.

Idk. I guess I'm just angry, because i use OldWorld mats to make money, which seems to be your complaint. You dont like people like me who exploit supply and demand to make money. On my server, a couple days ago. Adamantite ore was 250g/stack I went and farmed 10 stacks, sold it all in a days time because i was the only one on the market.

Of course people will still use old world mats. I mean 2-3g a stack of copper vs 80g a stack of ghost iron. I expect folk will use ghost iron through bottlenecks like fel iron and adamantite.

Here is what everyone needs to realize, and this is why I am expecting such changes to occur.

You make a new character and start playing WoW. You decide to pick up a profession. This game is FIVE versions deep. Five. Vanilla, BC, WotLK, Cata, and now MoP.
Leveling a profession via traditional methods is now a daunting task, especially when you consider how fast a player can get from 1-85.

It's a good thing for the *majority* of the player base for changes similar to cooking to occur to ALL professions, especially since primary professions are more expensive and difficult to level than cooking is.

What's happening is that Blizzard is essentially closing the gap between level 1 and level 85, encouraging players to stay for the current content, and not dwell in the old stuff so long that it discourages them from playing... and paying.

To us, this can seem discouraging. But do note that if the new BS method is successful, changes to all other professions are to be well expected.

Do note that the new BS leveling method is NOT replacing the current method. It is merely an *alternative*.
For those leveling professions, it will remain better to stick to the cheapest route. If a player is leveling BS, they may choose to level a portion of it via traditional methods if the costs are low, but then if, for example, they get to an expensive choke point (something we like to take advantage of), then they now have the alternate choice to buy GIO if it's cheaper to get them past that choke point.

Factor all of this in, and you can still sell BS leveling mats. The only difference now is that we have a ceiling for traditional mat prices that are determined by GIO prices.
