Thread: New server, a fresh start

So,

The battle chest went up last night for €5 and I finally decided to purchase it to use for RAF. I'm playing WoW since Alpha testing, no breaks. During WOTLK I moved server to Outland-EU and have been there ever since. Through real life complications, lack of interest etc. my stalwart raiding guild has fallen asunder and only a few of the guys remain.

Without raiding, WoW for me isn't that enjoyable. I've had a long-time friend who moved from Outland to various servers, but finally settled on Stormscale EU. He went Horde, I'm currently Alliance. I've always had a love affinity with Horde as I played Horde throughout Vanilla and TBC.

So the time has come. I'll still play my Alliance characters on Outland, but I feel my future lies elsewhere, with opportunity for raiding and grandure, but more interestingly, making money from nothing. I could put some real life cash into transferring, but I want to leave my Outland characters alone, for the occasional play around with my friends that still reside there, and well, to make gold there

So with the battle chest bought, I attached onto my account and got a friend on board to level with me. At the end , all the characters are mine, win. The last time I took an undertaking like this was when I moved to Outland, doing RAF to get characters up. That was when the cap at triple xp was 60. And I got every character to 60 within a week. When it comes to RAFing, I'm sick in the brain.

So what of this tale interests you? Well the obvious part... I'm penny less, and profession-less. This isn't a call for someone to hold my hand and help me make money. I have a good general idea how to do it. A friend of mine was a long time lurker here, and put me onto you lot around WOTLK. Since then I've become a lurker myself, contributing in places, hanging around IRC and that. I've learned a lot here, to which I've put to good use. Unfortunately I always seem to stonewall at the 50k-60k mark, be it out of laziness or perhaps misunderstanding of what needs to be done. So considering I'm doing this from scratch, I figure maybe this would be the best place to get feedback on my plan ahead.

What professions will I take?
I've never , ever taken engineering or Blacksmithing in all my time playing wow. So I doubt I will now. I figure across the first 3-4 characters it will go something like that

Character 1 - Mining , Jewelcrafting
Character 2 - Herbalism, Alchemy
Character 3 - Inscription, Enchanting
Character 4 - Tailoring , Alchemy

Then with the remaining characters filling them up with Alchemy and possibly , possibly, Engineering and BS

Are you levelling proffs while levelling?
No, the priority here is getting all characters to 80 before RAF expires. I have a relatively outrageous ability to max a profession in a few hours, and ensure it doesn't break the bank. So I'm hoping to get a loan of some gold at max level to power level JC so that I can shuffle, and start funding other profession with profits.

The problem with RAF is you out hit professions so fast, it slows down the whole process having to keep professions up.

Well what do you want from us?
If I am 100% honest I'm epic bored in work and figured it would be a mildly interesting post. But also that there is most definitly people here who have done the same, so perhaps they can share their experiences, successes and failures when it came to moving to a new server, where they left all they had behind

It has definitly spurred my interest in WoW again. All I've been doing this expansion after levelling was gearing my main, which after initial heroics was just LFR. It has been one run of Terrace a week now for the last while. So outside of that been just logging in to shuffle, and that was it.

I'm used to being in cutting edge raiding so hopefully this is step back to that.

In relation to pets, I don't have any to sell, I've moved to an entirely different server, with nothing transferred from my existing.

As for professions, don't overlook Blacksmithing. It has been my biggest, easiest and most consistent cash cow this expansion. Just do the quests in Dread Wastes to get to Honored for some recipes and farm the SoH for the 450 PvP recipes and you're in business.

Absolutely agree on the blacksmithing. I initially just took it for a nice perk and making my main gear but my goodness, belt buckles. I don't care if at times margins are only 50g after my ah cut, ill sell 10 a day if I put them up. PVP sells like hot cakes. This profession works well with alchemy too.

The shuffle is so well known and used that people often forget other markets, that's where you can make a killing. I always thought I'd make all my money with the shuffle and jc but I was wrong. Blacksmithing is my bread and butter all day, everyday.

With the BS changes coming next patch sounds like something that maybe I should look at
