I've built a pretty decent stock of rares over the last few weeks and I'm experimenting with different ways to sell them. I'm pretty new to this, so I was hoping some of you with more experience would share your selling tactics (other than patience!).
For example, today I decided to more aggressively bark in trade to get my [Formula: Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism] (which I snatched for 7g a few weeks ago!) some publicity and hopefully grab the interest of a collector. I started out with something like "WTS Formula: Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism 25k - 1 of only 3 available on the Horde AH across ALL US servers!" I quickly found that people reacted pretty strongly to the price (i.e. "WTF 25k?!", "That's insane for a low-level enchant", "Just use the Gatherer enchant", etc). This didn't really bother me because I figured any press is good press and maybe the trade conversation would help. To experiment, I gradually slimmed down my macro until all I have now is "WTS Formula: Enchant Gloves - Advanced Herbalism PST" since I figure any serious buyer wouldn't need the rarity or price explained to them. Now I get a bunch of whispers offering 5g and I have to nicely turn them down. Is one method of barking going to be more successful? Do you guys find that including price/rarity/sales text helps or harms the sale?
Another thing I'm trying is a mega thread of all my rares on the server forums, and barking a link to that thread which has all my items and pricing information. Anyone tried this? Is it worth my time since I have to update it every time I buy, sell, or adjust my prices?
Any other selling tips welcome. I know that flipping rares can take weeks or months, but anything to speed up the process is great.
