Shufflers - Suck up those cheap ores & gems, NOW!

With 5.1 nerfing the spawn rates of Ghost Iron by an additional 50% past the previous nerf, the gem market will almost assuredly start to tighten up with the lower supply of ore. Bots will come and go, but this nerf will almost assuredly drive out some excess player farmer competition.

Now is also the time to snag cheap materials (while they last) for upcoming patches that add new content.

Some things that should increase in value over time as the market adjusts to lesser spawn rates and fewer farmers:
    • Ghost Iron Ore (obviously)
    • Serpent's Eye - This is an iffy item to stockpile since we are past the days of i450 jewelry selling for high prices, however they are still worth keeping for crafting and sharding things.
    • Uncommon Gems - Most can be had for as little as 1-2g per. Stockpile them for runs at perfect cuts or for eventual jewelery crafting.
    • Rare Gems - Buy them in both Cut and Raw forms. Cut gems that are particularly useful but cheap are the ones you want to target.
    • Golden Lotus - Snag any cheap GL you see for transmuting gems (I do orange since they still sell well). Typically a cut gem will sell for 30-40g more than the mats to transmute it. Throw in a few procs for extras on transmutes...

This is by no means a foolproof list, but a shrewd person who knows their market should be able to invest 10-20k and squeeze a 100% or better return on the investment over the next few months.

This is basically the actions I've taken. Anything that's near the price it's been I just picked up. If it's already inflated by about 50% then I left it alone to play it somewhat safe.
Uncommon gems under 3g I bought.
Rare gems under 80g I bought.
Dust / essences / shards under 90-110% of usual price I bought em all up.
I even started looking at Meta's but I figured I'd leave those alone for now.
The Golden lotus are also being left alone by me since there was mention of an increase overall even though there is a nerf to total spawns.

Price already up to 6g per just now on my server (i've bought 2 bank tabs worth @2-4g per) now it's patience as I'm seeing panic by a few sellers trying to capitalize by dumping their stocks.

I don't see how this is possible given the nerf to both spawns and the SoH -> GL trade-in ration, but this is Blizzard we're talking about...

Golden Lotus can now pop out of regular herb nodes, so I'm not buying any.

I am trying to remember the last time wow reduced nodes.
I remember in wrath when they doubled thorium ore cause of blacksmith bottlenecks.
    But reduced, I can't remember.

Khorium nodes were removed from the game shortly after the BC launch due to the fact that it would spawn and no one could mine it (remember this was back when smelting was only good for about 10 skillups on Gold Bars), causing it to eventually clog up all the spawn points in Hellfire so that no one could hardly mine anything. It also made leveling Blacksmithing a royal pain since you didn't need Khorium to skill up, only to make high end items.

It was re-added a few weeks after release, but the chance for it to spawn in early zones was reduced to prevent a bottleneck.

Mine dried up weeks ago , the botters must have left or got banned. And now this nerf to spawns. Im just gonna stop shuffling for a while and hope some bots come back soon.

My server is somewhat similar. The bot was banned and then the supply nerf. I'm trying to maintain stock as best as I can, but who knows.
