    Bank Alt Gear

Now that I am starting to enjoying the AH PvP I am thinking of leveling my bank alt to 10 for armory access and since I will viewable I figured I might as well gear him properly. Any suggestions on good bank alt gear? I have a diamond tip cane and the default human priest gear.

I dress all my bankers in Tuxedo's. Gotta dress the part.

What do you mean though, about having to be level 10 to get armory access? You can use Armory AH with ANY level character. You only need to be level 10 if you want other people to be able to see your character pic and details. Sounds like a waste of time to level if you ask me. Leveling up to max out profs, on the other hand. That is another story, but it requires a lot more than 10 levels!

    I'm currently sporting , , , , , and my favorite .

Every few months, I put the shades up for 10k or more, just for fun. I wish I'd bought a whole tab of those like I was tempted to do.

Yeah lvl 10 so I can viewed on the armory, instead of being just name. As I get ready for the Winter Veil I thought it might be worthwhile to level to 5 for tailoring and spinning of wool cloth. Getting to lvl 10 couldnt take much longer specially if I just focus on event quest.

I have seen some alt running around in tuxedos and could do that but something a little different would be nice. I certainly will do santa suits when appropriate.

I really enjoy the look of Pennyworth! Here's a pic from awhile back after hitting cap. I'm still wearing all the gear right now (except the boots, which you cant see anyway - I accidentally DE'd them somewhere during my leveling adventure /sadface).

I don't really RP at all, but I've always pictured and portrayed ole PW as the old-time gentleman banker.

And yes, getting him to level 10 was the best move ever (sprint ftw!).

Dressing your bank alts is an interesting subject.

At first, I dressed my alts in tux gear, battered jungle hats and diamond tipped canes. I wanted people to know that I was a banker and that I could afford to splash the cash on some fancy clothes.

After a while, the novelty wore off and it seemed that everyone was wearing the same stuff so I switched to for females and for males. These still have a certain exclusivity about them, but aren't worn by everyone.

Alongside this, there is a serious point to consider.

Wearing the tux is like carrying a sign saying 'I play the AH' and doesn't help you when trading face to face. When I trade with a character wearing it, I know that he's not just your average Joe and so take extra care when considering deals.

If I'm wearing the tux and am about to engage in a face to face deal, I remove it and put on generic clothes. This tells my fellow trader nothing about me and he won't question my motives or prices.

In the past, I've even had players give me some free stuff when the trade is complete. I suppose it stokes their ego to help out the poor lowly peasant dressed in his noobish clothes. Would they have done that if I was wearing a tux? Probably not.

So, we have the age old question. Form or function? Style or substance?

For me, function is paramount and if you can add a dash of style, all the better. What I don't want to do is advertise that I'm a rich dude who has money to burn. Wear the tux by all means, but consider it to be the AH player's uniform and take it off when it is a disadvantage.

Another way to get around this is to avoid interactions on your banker. I generally don't communicate or use /trade or anything on my banking character. Most deals are made from other characters. My banker is in a different guild, has an unrelated name and does nothing expect collect money and post auctions.

Do people feel it is important to key bank alt's identity secret (ie hide the main(s) behind him/her)? I dont volunteer who my banker belongs too but it is fairly easy to "reverse engineer" it, just buy a piece of crafted gear and it will tell you who made it. Luckily you cant see who the crafter is from the AH screen, you need to have the item in your possession.

I mostly don't wear or have crafted items from my mains on my bank alts for that reason. I like to keep my bank alt secret for a variety of reasons: Folks can't track my market moves; guildies and friends aren't offended that I'm selling something rather than doing other things with it, etc.

Also not unimportant - I want my bank alt's auctions to be taken at face value without any influence from folks knowing my main, or guild.
