Another functional question--is the 36 tokens per two year limit still in place? I bought 36 back when they first added them, so if it's still in place I'm guessing I can't buy any. I'll try later and see.

That line has been removed from the official blizzard FAQ about tokens.

It looks like the max bnet balance is $350, but that may only be if you don't have an authenticator. Also to note from there, you can only buy 10 tokens from the shop per week ($20 for gold) but there's no limit on how many you can buy from the AH.

IMO what's going to happen now is players will need/want more gold to pay for their subs and add to their bnet balance. This is going to lead to an increase in farming/crafting etc... which will bloat supply and drop prices on everything making it even harder to accumulate gold to buy wow tokens that will continue to skyrocket in price to totally unreasonable levels.

Also right now players buying tokens for $$$ are probably holding off waiting for the token price to go even higher further compounding the supply/demand problem.

Do wow tokens ever go down in price if the supply out paces demand and they sit on the AH too long? (not that that's likely to happen).

Looks like the price is plummeting once again, part of me wonders if we'll see a rebound as players start to become more aware of the possibilities, particularly hearthstone players.

The max balance is $100 without an authenticator, $350 with one.

I can't decide whether to max out my balance, buy all the stuff I want, and load up game time for like a decade now or wait to see where token prices land. But as of this morning they've plummeted close to where they started.

What's the best deal on game time now, buying Battle.NET balance and then buying game time in packs of 6 months to get a discount?

Just FYI, I'll add something that I think is odd. As I said, I bought a token yesterday for $20 when it was at 70K. I held onto it and when I saw it spike to 114K, then dip to 104K, I put it up for auction. It never went back to 104K after that and my token sat there unbought for the full 12 hours. I assumed I would log in today and have it back in my inventory. However, I collected 104K, the price it told me I would get when I auctioned it. I'm sure it never went higher than 104K after I auctioned mine.

Thoughts? Is Blizz subsidizing these auctions?

Decided to pull the trigger at the floor today--bought a few dozen tokens at 61,853 gold and cashed them in for all the mounts and pets I didn't have and paid for game time in 6-month increments up to mid-2021. Guess I'll find out in a few days if I did OK. I had no options prior to all this anyway because I couldn't buy tokens since my 36-token, 2 year limit prevented it.

I was about to stop playing because the wow token wasn't released with patch 7.1.5.

Now that it is about to go live in EU and I see the effect on the price => picked at 200k...

I think I will either stop playing wow because I don't care anymore or invest in a bot if I want to fuel my bnet Balance.
It would be quite fun to open for free 10-20 decks a day at HearthStone.

Concerning wow, why would I bother manual farming at 5-20k per hour if I need 15-40h to buy a token when it was only 5-8h previously.

Vanilla profession nerfed, AH campers, maybe incoming AH overloard that could server transfer for free...

Quite a huge incentive to try and master a bot or simply quit the game.

IF the price is X, in your case 104k, when you list the token on the AH, it will return that much to you, regardless of what the buyer pays in gold.

I'd never really bothered much with tokens before but a lot of my guildmates regularly paid fro their subscription with them. With token prices still on the increase in the EU, all the people I knew that regularly bought them have stopped as they feel now like it is asking too much gold of them. It seems to be taking tokens out of the price range of the average player now.
Best whisper ever: "OMG! I thought you were a vanity pet! I only realised you were a player when I moved my cursor over you to find out the name to enter into Wowhead!"

Is that true? If that's how it works, then the token system is ADDING gold to the game. If a player paid say 80K for a token but the buyer got the 104K he listed it for, 24K just got added. I thought the entire reason they did this player-buys-a-token thing was to prevent adding gold to the game, which is what would happen if they simply sold gold for cash.
