Thread: Farming Strategy: Gaurantee Yourself - Ashes of Al'ar

Hey everyone,

I am back today to share with you guys another strategy! One of which can help you attain the extremely rare mount:

- [Ashes of Al'ar]

I am living proof that this strategy works, as I received my mount on:

- July 15, 2011

Now, what I am about to share with you may seem like absolute common sense.. However, I sat and farmed for this mount since early Wrath of the Lich King, and it took me a hell of a long time before I finally got it. Now, on top of that.. When I would run Tempest Keep, I would often times run with random people.. Which forced me to roll against them if the mount were to drop. This meant there was a significant chance that I would lose the roll, and ultimately, lose the mount to some other player. In fact, the previously described scenario occurred twice with me out of the many runs that I did.. And when it happened I wanted to throw my computer out the window because I was so bummed.

Anyway, one day I got the idea to begin "buying people out" for their help! When I attempted this I had 43,000 gold to my name, and I thought to myself.. "This my just be crazy enough to work."

Now, I know that times of changed.. And some classes are able to solo Tempest Keep, however, that is not true for everyone.

Secondly, I know the gold amounts have changed since I received my mount. For example:

- 5,000 gold during the Wrath of the Lich King might now be equivalent to 10,000 gold during the Mists of Pandaria expansion on your server.

But, let it be known that there are people out there who will do anything for a chance at a quick buck!

With all of this being said, he is what you do. (Or here is what I did)

You create a macro, such as this:

- "Looking for a few people to run Tempest Keep with! [Ashes of Al'ar] is on reserve, however, I will award the player with the highest roll insert gold amount here! PST if interested."

Now, you may get ridiculed like I did.. I cannot tell you how many people laughed at me because I was only offering 30,000 gold reward for one of the rarest mounts in the game. However, week in - and - week out, I got 3 people to join me and kill Kael'thas Sunstrider. But the craziness does not stop there! The attempt that finally lead to me winning my mount.. Upon it dropping, the person who rolled the highest roll, was so excited for me, he refused the whole 30,000 gold reward. And in the end he took:

- 15,000 gold
AND
- Had me reward the 2 additional players with us, 3,000 gold each.

Which allowed me to save 9,000 gold on my entire endeavor.. And if I do say so myself, spending 21,000 gold on one of the rarest mounts in the entire game, was well worth my ridicule/teasing.. And is the BIGGEST bargain I have ever seen in my 7 & 1/2 years of playing World of Warcraft.

So, even though on a weekly basis, people in Trade Chat and Private Messages, laughed me out.. I, in the end, arose successful in my quest. And of course, I had the last laugh.

Anyway, if you play a class that is unable to solo Tempest Keep, using this strategy will definitely help you guarantee yourself this mount if it is to drop.

And remember, you dont always need to post huge amounts of gold in order to grab peoples attention, take it from me!

When i first read the title it sounded like there was a bug that made it 100% drop, but after reading it, it appears not. Nice write up +rep!

Sorry my question was formulated wrong, may I ask which clases CANNOT solo Kael'Thas? Please let me know..>P

I do it weekly on my 90 Fire Mage, 90 Fury Warrior and 89 Blood DK.

At 85 there used to be a very specific strategy to solo it, but at 90 it's much more of a faceroll. I imagine it can be done with just about any class/spec with decent damage capabilities.

I do it on my ele shaman. at 85 i used to do the whole run around the whole zone fighting in specific areas. now i just fight them all in the main room. they die extremely quick at level 90. jus need to make sure i don't have elementals out for phase 4.

i haven't as yet got around to doing it on my 90 druid, dk or paladin but i imagine its easy. just need to not be lazy
