What impact do you think it'll make?

For things like high volume consumables (gems, enchants, potions, flasks etc.) especially on reset nights, is it always best to undercut?
When do you choose to overcut your competition so your items sell at the price you want for them?

[General] Assigning Value to BOP Mats

I generally use TSM to tell me whether the difference between the price of mats and the current selling prices of the crafted item make it worthwhile...

I generally use TSM to tell me whether the difference between the price of mats and the current selling prices of the crafted item make it worthwhile to craft. The only problem with this system is that some mats are BOP (farmed or dailies) and so have no AH value - this is a problem for TSM. I figure that the solution is to utilize TSM's great "user assigned price" for these items. This is where I would like some advice. How are you setting the prices for these items and how well is it working for you? Off the top of my head I am talking about Spirits of Harmony, Lightning Steel Ingots, and Imperial Silk (I don't have LW and don't know what the equivalent item is there).

Now Phat Lewts has suggested using the "Spirit of Harmony Equivalent Value" (found in the elementals area of TUJ) for this- tying the SOH to the highest value for items that you could get for it by trading it to a vendor. Does this work for you guys? It is an intriguing proposition.

The other two items are not as easy to figure out. Of course, each has some actual mats, and there should probably be some additional value put on them for burning the CD. Again, I could use some advice. Thanks.

I'm having quite a dilemma at the moment. When/is there a time where you want to stop buying?

I only have my hand in a few markets (gems, enchants, pvp gear) but I seem to be buying almost non-stop. I've even lowered my prices for my dealfinding list but on average, I'm probably spending 10k-15k daily on materials.

To clear up though, I'm not losing gold. According to TSM, I'm up about 35k for the last 7 days, but I was curious if you guys just stop buying when you reach a certain amount of stock or do you keep buying in case of a dry period?

Maybe I could just lower my profit margin (currently set at a minimum of 120% crafting cost) to offload more stock?

Herb and Mining changes 5.3

Miners can now level mining from a low skill level completely in Pandaria. You can combine ten nuggets to make one ore.

Herbalists can now level herbalism from a low skill level completely in Pandaria. Nodes will yield a partial herb with the amount being determined by your skill level. You can combine 10 of the partial herbs to form a complete herb.

The way I read these notes means that upcoming patch and onwards there will be less supply of lower level ores and herbs; a lot of players will ding 90 and level their gathering profs in MOP content only. However these lower leve herbs and ores are still required for JC and Alch.

Do you guys think this is a good market to invest in?

Hello guys, i've been working on the Ore shuffle, but last night some very strange thing happened, someone flooded the AH with 600+ stacks of GIO, as a goblin, my first thought was: I must contact this vendor and buy his stock, so i added his as a friend an waited. Today he was online, so i started to talk with him, but he did not answered to any of my attempts of communication, and when i gone to look on the AH, he posted 1000+ stacks of GIO very cheap (54g each) and i dont have the gold and dont want to encourage him to flood the AH again, what do you guys think i must do in a situation like this?

PS: I also reported him to blizzard so they can investigate if he is a bot.

Hello. I've been using this site and reading a lot of stuff here and it's great! This is my first thread about an issue I've been having the last few weeks. One player in particular seems to purposely deep undercutting me in the gem market. This player would only deep undercut me by 50% when they see me online. Other times when they are about to log off for the day or night they would just 'attempt' to wall at my threshold. Other times soon as I log off my bank toon, they would cancel and relist with a 1 copper undercutting me. All my other competitor's (I assume are using TSM/auctioneer/auctinator) just do the 1 copper undercut but they follow suit and undercut that player and market crashes. Lol. Once the market recovers it starts all over again. I do the ore shuffle when I can buy it off the AH for 70-75g a stack and have a few personal farmers selling to me for 60g a stack. I also have markets in the enchanting vellum, JC necks/rings, crafted PvP cloths, and a few misc things such as bags, leathers, etc but this player isn't touching those markets. I believe this player farms his own mats and has limited stocks since he does not undercut me on every gem cut.

My dilema (if you can call it that ) and initial plan to countering this player was to buy him and others out below my threshold. After a few days of buying them out, I ended up with a lot of stock and on my medium population server, they aren't moving as fast so I do not want to just keep buying. I've looked at this player's posting behaviour and times on TUJ. This player seems to be online all day and night and goes offline from 1am-7am and posting almost every hour. Doesn't seem to camp the AH but is always on alts or farming or whatever and checks their auctions often. I'm starting to get the feeling it's a personal attack. I admit I'm a bit frustrated at the fact that he is attacking me at my threshold when I'm online and that he farms his own mats. I'm also frustraed that I feel like I'm the only real goblin on my realm. I've tried to wall a few times 20% below my threshold for a few days and no one bought me out. And when I step aside and let the market crash, no one resets it and takes at least a week to recover. I just don't get it. Lol. I'm still making gold in my other markets.

How do you deal with this?
