So I have recently started flipping on the AH. I do use some other strategies and dwell in other markets, but for now I'm focusing on flipping. To help me keep track of these things, since BeanCounter and TSM aren't clean enough for me, I developed my own Excel Spreadsheet. It took only a few minutes, and is working wonders. How it works is quite simple.

Column A is the Investments Name.
Column B is the Date I purchased the Investment.
Column C is how much I purchased it for.
Column D is the MINIMUM I would like to flip it for. This is usually for when I've had the item for too long, I notice the market dropping, or I'm just sick of having it around, and want to clear out my my Purchase Table.
Column E is the PREFERRED amount I would like to flip it for, as this is the Market Price, or sometimes slightly above Market.
Column F is the amount I sold the item for.
Column G is the Date I sold the item. (To me this is important, so I can have a comparison later on how long it took to move the item, and how long I usually take to move items in general.)
Column H is the amount of Profit I gained off the transaction. This is not exact down to the copper, but usually with 1-2g.

Here's where it gets a little weird, and it's just some rules of thumb for myself.

Column's I-K are kind of just guidelines for flipping and for using this spreadsheet for myself. I don't have to follow them, they're not my rules, just guidelines. Usually, following this, I keep everything nice and clean, and keep to a consistent profit no matter what.

Column's L-N are my daily money measurements, basically. Now, for the purposes of this example, I created a temporary version of the spreadsheet and altered these numbers, so don't try to figure out why the money doesn't add up.

I guess there's really only two things left about this SpreadSheet that I can talk about when it comes to the construction of it. First, is the dark colored lines. As I'm sure you could figure out by examining it, the dark colored lines are Investments that have been completed (i.e., sold.) Second, is the very dark margins at the bottom. More specifically, Rows 37 and 38. These rows are kind of special, in a way. Also weird. Don't ask me why I do this the way I do, it just comforts me and makes sense to me.

How this works is quite simple. I call it a "List Break", and I put it in at the end of every other day. The time at which I put this break in is the only time that "time" has anything to do with it. Each section between breaks is it's own two day period, and all the Investments I have made during that period. In my example, there is only one section. Now, in the break, you will see three fields. The first field is the "Projected Minimal Profits" field. This field basically is stating how much profit I should have made if I sold everything for the minimum price I listed in Column D. The next field says "Projected Maximum Profits". This is how much profit I should have made if I sold everything for the price listed in Column E. Finally, and obviously, the last field is called "Total Profits". This field will ONLY be filled out once ALL Investments in that section have been completed. So, even if it's two months later and there's still some random Pattern or Pet that I haven't managed to sell, this field will not be filled out. Once the section is entirely filled out, I can complete the Total Profits field, and check out what I made for that block of investments. Ideally, the result should be somewhere between the "Projected. . ." results. For me, my personal goal is to stay in the upper 75% of this range. If I dip below, it's not that big of a deal. If I dip below 25%, I really start to look into what I did wrong, and what changed throughout the period of the items I had. If I somehow dip into the bottom 10%, or even BELOW the "Minimal Profits" threshold, I completely break down every item of the period. I will look at the time it took me to sell the item, the Market Percentage of what I bought it at, the amount of competition I had, what the price on the items did during the period and how well the item was selling on my realm (this is where TUJ and WoWuction would be vital to my system), and where I decided to sell my item at (Market Percentage). Using this, hopefully I can learn more about the item, and sharpen my own skills as well as take some very valuable lessons learned.

(Cont. below picture)

Now, here I inserted a paint picture of the Excel document, but I also attached a copy of the document in case anybody wants to look at it, and help me refine it a little with some improvements. This is the main supporting document that I use for all my flipping endeavors in WoW. Now, don't look at this list and criticize me. This was just a portion of the full list, set by for an example and incomplete (I still need to update some sales.) I made a pretty big mistake, however, that I will not be making again. I transferred realms with my main toon, which turned out fine. I took all my auctions with me, and brought a decent amount of gold. However, there was one mistake I made. . . I did not check how well the current Investments I had were selling on my new realm before I transferred, and now multiple items (that I am probably going to be stuck with for awhile) have a 0% moving rate on WoWuction. However, I managed to sell some rather good items almost as soon as I arrived at my new home. Among these beauties to be sold were the [Blade of Wizardry], the [Plans: Steelgrip Gauntlets], the [Grakl's Gleaming Talisman], and quite a few others. Needless to say, this particular list is almost complete.

Well guys, I guess that's all I really have for you. I would love to discuss what you think about my spreadsheet, and any other spreadsheets you might have to share, or some other strategies that you guys use. I know this one helps me a lot, and I have a few strategies of my own that I am developing if anybody is interested. If you see me on US-Stormrage(A), hit me up, let me know you're from here and we can chill. Thanks!

As of late i've been thinking about getting either of those professions mentioned above. As i have one alt on max level who has herb/skinning maxed out ,but i rarely farm, I've started to think that i should replace either of those two with some other profession to get into the new market. I've paid attention on trade and TUJ and so far i can see couple of things:
Glyph market ,as on every server, has a big number of competition. Even tho i could camp AH between queues since i do most of pve/pvp stuff on that char. Now the question is: Beside glyphs and shoulder enchants is there anything else that inscriptionist can sell?
Also since i'm deciding whether i should go for lw or inscription:With LW i can post couple times a day and make good to great profit ( reset day or someone desides to get into pvp or just needs ilvl for LFR ) or as inscriptionsit i get to camp auction but getting constant income?

Hey there,
I have been a huge fan of TUJ for quite a while and really appreciate all the value it brings for goldmakers.

However I transfered from an English to a German realm a few months ago and really, really miss the detailed information on items and sellers.
That was easily my favorite feature of TUJ since it makes it incredibly easy to profile your competition to maximize profits.

Are there any plans on bringing that feature to non-English EU realms in the future?

I'm new to making gold, I have about 300k which I'm proud of, I sell gems and enchants from shuffling ore which I mine (I have trouble spending 100gold per stack, as I worry I wont make profit) and I'm on a low pop realm (Runetotem EU) and I dominate the gems and enchants market, not that I sell a lot is that im the only one to sell most of the time, it has taken me such a long time to achieve this 300k and I want to make much much more but I have trouble branching off as I don't know what's successful.

So my question is which methods would you recommend, I can still keep up with the gems and enchants but I want to spread my range to make more, so any methods is welcomed.

I have JewelCrafting, Enchanting, Mining, Herbalism, Alchemy and Engineering at the moment but I can always level others if needed, any help would be great!

Unusual strategies and techniques

Hello
I want to talk about some strange things people do in the auction house; I will share some of my strategies. I would invite you to do the same...

Hello
I want to talk about some strange things people do in the auction house; I will share some of my strategies. I would invite you to do the same be it something you have tried or seen others doing and if you know how they worked out share that also.

So some background I play on a smallish server and I play on one of those auction houses where if you are gold capped you could pretty much buy everything... Needless to say I have been pretty successful in cornering markets and I am a fairly aggressive ah player I make it tough for my competition to do business easily in my markets. I also don't form alliances with co-auctioneers although I have been asked to several times. I have even received some hate mail (no joke) from people who's markets I've "ruined".

Anyways I tell you that because the strategies I use will not work everywhere and I felt it necessary to give a bit of background. One thing that I do that is a bit odd to others is crash burn and regrow markets. I mostly use this tactic to force out competitors or to dry up stock. I will usually find a market with a bunch of people crazily undercutting each other. Then I join the party, and crash their market sometimes they try to buy me out, but I do my research, and make sure I can supply them. Not to mention I am getting help from all the people who are paying no attention that they are undercutting way under cost. once I am satisfied with all or most of the prices I buy it all the entire market, and re-list a couple low auctions. Wait a bit buy up all their leftovers cornering the market. They are out of stock, and most are very unlikely to try again because they had a negative experience. I mean hey all their stuff sold why dump more money into something they had to settle for selling below cost right? I then set the price as I see fit keep it that way until the vultures move in, and by that time I have made my gold I then dump my excess, and move on.

There are also very regulated items like items tied with a daily cool-down. If I see a market of these "limited" items struggling, and people undercutting the price to crap. I will buy everything they have, but I will list high & low. I will list high meaning I put pie in the sky prices just so I don't have to hold onto these things. I also list low I will list 1-3 way below cost usually about as much as they had them when I bought all of the market. This does something to my competition like wild animals they start listing everything they've got. some of them will undercut the pie in the sky prices, but a ton of others will not pay attention, and go under the low items. I buy the lowbies, and maintain my low priced items (I call this auction house trapping, because you bait and set the trap and wait for people to get caught) Once the stock is dried up do what you will list at adequate prices. I would suggest using this with a backup plan if something goes wrong then you are stuck with a bunch of stock you can't sell, and the market is crashing again. I usually buy limited supply crafting items like living steel or something; then if I get stuck dump it into belt buckles or something. I may lose profit, but I won't take a total loss.

Auction house storage anyone? I can't take credit for this idea I have been doing this a long time, but I only realized what I was doing after hearing someone mention it on a gold making podcast. You know all that crap you have sitting in your guild banks? You know it is probably losing value? Lets put it to work for you. Anything! and I do mean anything that I am not going to use within the week needs to be on the ah (choose what works for you) for more than what I am willing to accept. But but but there are lots of other auctions for really low... Doesn't matter. If and when those guys decide to take a break and they probably will; something of yours will be needed, and they will pay an extravagant amount for it. I would suggest making tsm do the re-listing for you just make an auction house banking group then put all your crap in there, and set the pie in the sky prices after that forget it. If you ever need that item you know where to find it. Now at least those items have a chance of making you money instead of losing it. You might sell something, and if you ever need that item I'm sure you can buy it for less at that point in time (which will never come but keep telling yourself you need meta gems from cata)

Anyways these are my tips tricks, and strange things I do. Now it's your turn!

Side note: I am not great at spelling and I really hate grammar/punctuation so I am sorry if these things bother you I am only trying to help the same way others have helped me but I don't really like writing never have. One more thing if this has been helpful or entertaining please +rep me I would really appreciate it.

I am using TSM to craft and sell glyphs at AH, but when i use "Run GetAll scan" the prices do not update at all.... if i do specific inscription profession scan, i do get some data but no all prices are right. Also inscription proffesion scan don't see my own glyphs at AH, so if i try to restock i craft very often glyphs that i already had placed on AH.

I did set it up to post max 1 stack of 1 so it should be fine... but when i open crafting mode TSM it shows me only glyphs i have in bank and in my bags but all glyphs in AH are shown as "0".

Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/913Ql6U.jpg
I took screen shot just after running profesion scan. I did try reloading UI but it didn't helped.

any idea how to solve this?

I seem to be consistently making rash or bad decisions when it comes to spending my gold. How do people on this forum prioritize non investment spending?

I have not really noticed my behavior until recently because it was masked by my high income that was still earning me profit. I just calculated some of my more recent purchases and was really surprised. I have spent nearly 500k over the last few moths with not much to show for it. Donating 30k to a guild to have the GM move servers, to purchasing the latest gear for DPS toons thinking I would play them in LFR but never do beacuse of queue times.

Humm,

Just need to crack down on my spending habits. Perhaps I should make a goal or something rather then just make gold for the sake of gold.

BTW
If you see whatsatotèm hanging around stormwind on US-Alexstrasza feel free to wave and say hi.

I noticed that my inscription queue needed many inks, but none of Jadefire Ink, yet when I clicked TSM_Crafting - Buy Vendor Items to swap ink of dreams for the needed inks, a couple hundred not-needed jadefire ink's were obtained. Also, it's technically inks needed to make glyphs, not pigments so maybe a mouse-over on an ink to show the pigment needed would be more suited.

My First Day and Goal

So it was my first day actually using the AH today. I decided to take it easy, tested the waters of my Realm, and watched to see what kind of competition I had. Finally, I decided to make my first few moves throughout the day and attempt some flips. I found some pretty good deals, including [Gerp's Perfect Arrow] for 26g, [First Mate Hat] for 6g, and [Recipe: Gift of Arthas] for 200g. All of these I managed to sell, plus I started flipping MoP blues. I started the day with around 30k, ending the day with 38k and still money put into Snatches that I haven't managed to sell yet. I do understand I won't always be this lucky to make these sales or these deals this fast, but it was a great start, I feel like. Overall, I spent around 20k, then made it all back with a big surplus. I still have around 15k in profits sitting around in the AH (yes, 15k in profit, not investment). Some of it will bust, most likely. However, I try not to buy anything that I don't believe I could sell at the same price I bought it for. I'm trying to avoid buying anything that I can't make 100% profit on, but also set a limit to try and not sell anything below 15% profit (this is extreme cases. . . i.e., I've had this item for 2 weeks and someone is haggling with me.)

So, after this day, I've decided to set my first Gold Goal. . . I'm shooting for 250k liquid to start with. Not an impressive goal, I know. But it's my first goal nonetheless, and it's all I'm focusing on now. So, how did I do? Am I overevaluating how well I did? Or did I do alright for my first day? Also, any other tips for me? I'm reading over the Goblineers' Guide now, but will definitely hit it hard during the reset tomorrow. Have a great day everyone, and thanks for showing me this amazing (and addicting) side of WoW!

Hello everyone.

I am a student of social informatics on faculty of social sciences in Slovenia. I am conducting a research for my diploma about people's relations in WoW. I have made a survey and would like to post it on these forums. But before I do so, I would like to ask if surveys are allowed and if I need a permission from admins to post surveys?

Thank you for your help

Glyphs - How to Price when none on AH

So, incredibly, after what seemed like years of glyphs being a terrible time sink with very little gph on my server, the scribe spammers have gone away, and glyphs are very profitable again. So profitable, that at times, there are zero glyphs of certain types on my AH.

For example, the only http://www.wowhead.com/item=85697 currently up on my AH is the one I listed last night. TUJ has a US horde market price on that at about 184g.

I'm not a fan of pricing things based on materials value, I prefer set values. I currently have my reset price set at 500g buyout 450g bid. I'm wondering if I should raise that price to something like 1000g buyout, or whether I should drop it to 400g or 300g.

My question is, what would you set as a gouging price on glyphs if you had the opportunity to set the market for certain glyphs? Would you go with a set price, would you go based on materials cost, or would you go with a multiple of the all-regions market price (say, 3x the TUJ market price which would be 552g, or 2x the market price which would be 368g)? And if you would go with a set price, what would that price be?
