Well hello again all!! I know I have not posted around the Consortium for awhile, things have been hectic and I have been flooded with things to do.
However I wanted to come back and touch on some Basics of the D3 Auction House as it currently stands and how I am using it.
First off, and this will appeal to many of the goblins here, sniping is HUGE in D3. It is where I make all my money at currently. *** One little warning here, there is some speculation as to 3rd party software assisting people for sniping. ***
But the general basics are pretty simple and easily applied. First like anything in Gold Making, know your markets. It takes a small amount of immersion back into D3 in its current state to get a feel for what items are worth anything. Secondly is Diligence. If you plan to push this as far as it can go, make sure you keep both sides of the AH loaded at most all times.
Ok so the basics of sniping on D3 is to set the filters for stats or affixs as you see fit (they have gotten much better BTW) and sort auctions based on one of two standards. The first being Time Remaining (Showing the shortest duration remaining) If you are watching a large enough pool of items this page when spammed on search will be almost always filled with auctions ending in < 1 minute. When going through these you are bid sniping for direct flips. Pricing strat discussed further down. The second being Time Remaining (showing the longest duration remaining) This is Buyout sniping for incorrectly posted items. This market is very cutthroat, you have to know your items and be quick. Most of the time by the time you decide yeah I'll buy that .... its gone.
Pricing .... They have made one huge improvement I feel the need to bring up here and that is the ability to (while in the AH menu) right click on an item and search for similar. For Legendary's and the like you can just sort by cheapest buyout and undercut as necessary or add in specific affix searches. When you do this with a Rare (or yellow) quality item, it actually even imports the item stats into the search. Just remove the misc ones you are not pricing to and hit search to value your items properly. It is not uncommon to purchase upwards of 10-20 items on bid snipes for around 10-20k each .... I then routinely flip them for 500k - 2mil. And they sell quickly.
One other note on pricing. MMO-champion's sister site Diablofans has some guides posted alot on their front pages. Alot recently are all by the same person. They do budget guides for level 60 builds where try to make an effective character for a dubget of 3 million or whatever. The best thing I can suggest for this is to watch at least the budget videos and see what is being recommended to the masses as "required stats" also take note that alot of people use these guides and he always sets his searches to look for items under 200k at certain locations such as chest armor. This applies if you snipe a nice piece of chest armor for 15k .... you do your research and see the next closest piece like it is 400k!! Well sadly all of these budget shoppers watching these videos will never see your auction. post it up at 200k and cash in on the Bandwagon bunch.
And one last note.... I mentioned earlier to keep "both" sides of the AH full. Yes I do mean the Real money side as well. No I am not advocating or instructing you to use your own money in this. I simply mean sell a couple pieces on the RMaH side for chump change or some gold. Just to get some money on that balance over there. Then snipe accordingly as well. You watch short ending ones with a $1.25 bid snatch it up and sell it on the gold AH. The gold you make from that one item you can sell right back on the RMaH for a nice little profit.
I am not saying this is going to be anything to make a living, but for those that enjoy the challenge of the AH meta enviroment I HIGHLY recommend you spend some time in just the AH. I have spent the last week or so in Diablo. (Those of you on my realid can attest to that) In this time I have succesfully flipped my way to 200million in Diablo gold and over 85 dollars in the Battle.net account. This is not including Inventory. I suspect this to only get better.
I may post some of my recommend searches for snipes if there is any interest. However that being said I dont believe there have been any posts or interest in this forum subsection for quite sometime.
Please ignore any Grammar or Spelling errors as I was typing quick and just trying to get the post up. I will revise later. Have fun everybody.
