  • Mists of Pandaria: Compilation of the ore shuffle and it's proffessions

In this post I will be dealing with the new ores in Mists of Pandaria and the ways how we can process them. Im going to cover Blacksmithing (I won't cover armor and weapons though, unless they can help getting Enchanting materials), Jewelcrafting, Mining, Alchemy and Enchanting.

    The ores
The whole shuffle obviously starts with the ores. Mists of Pandaria introduces the following new ores:

    And two uncommon ores:

Currently you need two of both uncommon ores to smelt a Trillium Bar, but you can also transmute it with 10 Ghost Iron Bar.

    Jewelcrafting
Just like in every expansion, the ores are again prospectable. Kyprarite Ore requires a Jewelcrafting level of 550 to prospect, Ghost Iron Ore requires 500 and the Trillium Ores both require level 600 to prospect them. Ghost Iron Ore seems to be the Mists equivalent of and will likely give the most uncommon gems. Kyprarite Ore seems to be the equivalent of and the Trillium Ores seems to be the equivalent of and will most likely give the highest amount of rare gems.
    The uncommon gems are:

    And the rare gems are:

    The meta gem is:

And there is a jeweler's only gem aswell, as always you will be able to put 3 of them in your gear:

The stats on them seem bugged as a Serpent's Eye currently gives the same amount of stats a perfect uncommon one.

In this expansion we will also be able to transmute uncommon gems to rare gems, this will be covered under Alchemy.
Also as usual we will be able to cut gems:

    • Red gems can be cut into: Bold, Brilliant, Delicate, Flashing and Precise
    • Orange gems can be cut into: Adept, Artful, Champion, Crafty, Deadly, Deft, Fierce, Fine, Inscribed, Keen, Lucent, Polished, Potent, Reckless, Resolute, Resplendent, Skillful, Splendid, Stalwart, Tenuous, Wicked and Willful
    • Purple gems can be cut into: Accurate, Defender's, Etched, Glinting, Guardian's, Mysterious, Purified, Retaliating, Shifting, Sovereign, Timeless and Veiled.
    • Green gems can be cut into: Misty, Piercing, Lightning, Sensei's, Effulgent, Zen, Balanced, Vivid, Turbid, Energized, Forceful, Jagged, Nimble, Puissant, Radiant, Regal, Shattered and Steady
    • Blue gems can be cut into: Rigid, Stormy, Sparkling and Solid
    • Yellow gems can be cut into: Fractured, Mystic, Quick, Smooth and Subtle.
    • Meta gems can be cut into: Agile, Austere, Burning, Destructive, Effulgent, Ember, Enigmatic, Eternal, Fleet, Forlorn, Impassive, Powerful, Reverbarating and Revitalizing

As you can see there currently are alot more cuts than the Cataclysm gems had. Some however seem to be the same such as the green Balanced and Zen gem, but we will have to see that in a later build. It currently is hard to say if the red gems will be the best sellers again as according to this blogpost Blizzard is trying to make primary and secondary stats more equal. This is also seen on the Beta as Intellect is now equal or worse for healers than Spirit.
The uncommon gems will likely serve the same purpose as they had in Cataclysm: For daily quests and for Jewelry that can be disenchanted. There isn't much information yet on the Beta for the jewelry and so far we only got one neck and one ring that we can make: Alexandrite Necklace and Lapis Lazuli Band. As of now both require 4 uncommon gems of the same name and one Jeweler's setting.
We also have jewelry of rare quality again. They require one Jeweler's Setting, two rare gems or 6 uncommon gems and 6 Serpent's Eye (the new ). Nothing is known yet about stats on these items, but they will likely have the same quality as Heroic Dungeon gear and there is a chance the recipes are bought for tokens again.

    Alchemy
Like noted above we can transmute uncommon gems into rare gems again in Mists of Pandaria. Currently a transmute of a rare gem of a specific colour requires one uncommon gem of the same colour and a Spirit of Harmony. It is likely that this is a nerf to transmuting as Spirits of Harmony seem to be rarer than herbs. The new meta gem, Primal Diamond, is transmuted 2 Wild Jade, 2 Vermilion Onyx and 2 Imperial Amethyst. So this gem is going to be a little more expensive than the Cataclysm equivalent. Alchemists are again able to transmute the best metals, this time it's called Living Steel, which requires 3 Trillium Bar and a Spirits of Harmony to craft.

    Enchanting
Mists of Pandaria introduces new enchanting materials these are:

This is nothing unusual and all materials have Cataclysm equivalents. There is a new twist though to these materials. You are able to materials in other materials. This is not only a shatter and a transform like Cataclysm, but you will be able to turn 5 Spirit Dust to 1 Lesser Mysterious Essence, of which you require 3 to make a Greater Mysterious Essence, of which your require 3 to make an Ethereal Shard (the large ones) of which again you need 3 to create a Sha Crystal . Dust to Essence, Essence to Shard and Shard to Crystal requires Enchanting, but Lesser to Greater and Small to normal shard still dont require Enchanting to do.

    So: 135 Spirit Dust -> 27 Lesser Mysterious Essence -> 9 Greater Mysterious Essence -> 3 Ethereal Shard -> 1 Sha Crystal.

    New Enchants:
    Boots:

    Bracer:

    Chest:

    Cloak:

    Gloves:

    Offhand:

    Weapon:

    Tailoring
There are currently no new bags, so there is no need either of any enchanting material. We do however see new greens that can be crafted that could be a supply of enchanting materials when disenchanted on a messed or monopolized realm. Some greens only seem to require 4 Windwool cloth which might make it worthwile to do. As all stats and qualities of most items are missing it is hard to say which items will be the best to disenchant, but with AoE looting it is likely we will see more cloths on the auction house.

    Leatherworking
Has new crafted uncommon gear aswell, could serve same purpose as tailoring gear. But once again this will all be dependent on realm prices and disenchant numbers. As all stats and qualities of most items are missing it is hard to say which items will be the best to disenchant.

    Blacksmithing
Just like the other proffessions this will also have disenchantable uncommon items, but these are extra special as Blacksmithing will again be a way to get rid of excess ore. All the rare items seem to require one Spirit of Harmony which might again be a limiting factor. As all stats and qualities of most items are missing it is hard to say which items will be the best to disenchant. Blacksmiths will also be able to create Folded Ghost Iron, which seems to come with 3 additional quality levels: Quality Folded Ghost Iron, Masterfully Folded Ghost Iron and Perfect Folded Ghost Iron. It is unknown how you get the better quality ones, this might be proc based or you might need to combine multiple of the lower tier versions. It is also unknown how this is going to work with recipes containing them. Last but not least we get a new belt buckle called Living Steel Buckle and a new weapon chain called Living Steel Weapon Chain

    Engineering
Mists will introduce two new scopes: Mirror Scope and Lord Blastington's Scope of Doom. The materials for them are currently unknown, but these will likely used bars and gems again like in the previous expansions and will be a small addition to the shuffle.

    Conclusion
The ore shuffle will be very close to the Cataclysm ore shuffle, Blizzard might have nerfed it a bit though as transmuting requires Spirit of Harmony and uncommon jewelry seems to require double the amount of uncommon gems. There also is a much higher amount of cuts.

Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions and I hope this information collection might be useful.

Do we know yet where or how this conversion will occur? Will it be an NPC that sells the various items (similar to how anyone can trade Blackfallow Inks to all the other inks). Or will it be an Enchanter-only conversion (similar to how enchanters can shatter Maelstroms into Heavenly Shards). As of now on the Beta, I have yet to see this conversion implemented in any form. Any further information on it?

great post, wonder if it will be worth doing the shuffle as soon as mop hits or if to wait for the price of ore to come down..

That might depend on what they put the vendor value for the cut uncommon-quality gems (like . At the start of Cataclysm, ore prospecting was like printing gold because cut uncommon quality gems vendored for 9g. That meant that any stack of Obsidium Ore that was priced less than 54g was a guaranteed profit.

I seriously doubt they'll do that again, as that vendor price also contributed, in part, to the massive inflation from Wrath to Cataclysm.

Ah thanks, I looked over those as I assumed the Mists enchants all required 525 enchanting, I will add them, thanks

EDIT: Added the first 3. Pandamonium just seems an internal test to me as it can only be applied to level 92 items and it has some DNT tag.

Have the prospecting rates been confirmed yet? The issue of one ore giving more green gems than another is a recent change (obsidium versus elementium); previous expansions had the same rate between the various ores. It's quite possible that both ores may give the same number of gems if Blizzard returns to pre-Cataclysm yields.

The real issue for the shuffle is allowing dust to be exchanged for essences. We've all seen how large our dust piles get, especially in the second half of an expansion. Converting all of that excess dust is going to have a huge downward effect on essence prices, and this may spread to shard prices if essence prices fall far enough. Finding the price floors and profit yields on each of these items will be interesting.

"There are also further alchemy transmute passive abilities: Transmute Elements, Transmute Gems, Transmute Metals."

It seems like Alchemy transmutes are now on separate timers. Any idea on conformation?

If the Dust -> Crystal makes it to the live servers, I’ll put LMFAO on my Ipod, and play the song “Everyday I'm Shuffling” on repeat.

      Great article btw.!!

I've got a quick question hoping someone could answer. I've got a level 85 Hunter toon (formerly my main) that is doing the Cata Ore Shuffle with Enchanting and I'm concerned because I plan to play a differernt class in MoP as a main. My question is do we know yet if the JC dailys open up at max JC level, max toon level or both? I'm a bit concerned as to wether or not I need to level my gold making profession toon first vs the main I actually want to do content with.

You need 550 JC to be able to do the dailies. The dailies seem to be in Valley of the Eternal Blossom however. The gate to there can be currently walked through on Beta, but if this isn't possible you will have to be level 87 in order to do the questline to open the gate.

Hmmm ... my big question is still - "What do I do day 1?" I think, having read all of this, that I probably will be gathering and selling ore and herbs rather than doing the shuffle or crafting anything. Although maybe using some of the ore to level blacksmithing and then DEing everything to sell enchanting mats would be wise. I wanted to get into the belt buckle business as quickly as possible, but if the price for crafting the buckle is one living steel, it seems like I'd be much better off just selling the living steel itself. Truegold was unbelievably expensive for the first couple of weeks following launch. If living steel is the same way, I think that is the business I'd like to be in. Man, those Spirits of Harmony are a killer! It's tough to have a crafting-only alt when you need those so badly for crafting.

I think Tailoring deserves a little section in here, since the mats for the created blues are a bit lower than what they are in Cata.

      http://mop.wowhead.com/spell=125544 - 3 bolts
      http://mop.wowhead.com/spell=125546 - 4 bolts
      http://mop.wowhead.com/spell=125539 - 5 bolts

I didn't list all of them out, since they all seem to be the same item level, I would imagine we will just go with the bracers since they only take 15 pieces of cloth to make a shard.
