  • Unlocking Patch 4.2 New Hyjal Dailies

We all (hopefully) by now know that in Patch 4.2 (which MMO-Champion estimates will hit on the 21st and 22nd of June for US and EU servers respectively) is going to have new dailies in Mount Hyjal that need to be completed in order to obtain the new BoE Craftable Profession Plans/Schematics/Patterns.

From what I have been told (correct me if I'm wrong) players will need to do a series of dailies each day which reward you with tokens. Ultimately those tokens allow you access to the vendors which then sell the plans/schematics/patterns for 300 gold each. (Just been told by a guildy that he thinks you need to be friendly with he vendors - which is apparently 3 days of dailies)

Anaalius has the Blacksmithing/Engineering/Leatherworking/Tailoring items listed on his blog post; Final Preparations for Patch 4.2 Firelands.

What many don't know/realize is that you need to complete certain quests in Mount Hyjal before you can unlock these dailies. You do NOT want to be one of those people who log on, realize this and then have to join the spree of uninformed gamers who are busy spamming those quests.

The quest chain that you need to complete is:

If you are not sure if you have completed these quests, head over to Curse and download the Quest Completist Addon.

It will list all the quests for the zone that you are in/you select and display them as completed and turned in, completed but not turned in, not accepted, not in progress, etc.

Once installed, clicked on the big red Zones button and select the option "Perform Server Query..." near the bottom of the list, this should refresh your list to show you what you have and have not completed.

Once done, first thing you want to do is locate Aessina's Miracle quest to see if it's been completed (green tick) or not. If not then check for Firefight, if not check for The Last Living Lorekeeper.

It shouldn't be too hard for you to catch up if you haven't done any of those three listed quests.

I'll give you a bit of help just incase.

The first quest, The Last Living Lorekeeper starts at the NPC called Aviana located at the Shrine of Aviana.

If you press M and go to your map while you have the Quest Completist addon enabled it will show quest marks on your map. Hovering over one gives you more information about the quest and its name.

For some The Last Living Lorekeeper quest is only available after you complete Sethria's Demise quest chain.

I don't have time right now to write anything more in-depth, but if you are stuck and need help feel free to post here. Reading wow head comments by other people often gives clues as what to do too

    Good luck.

      Great post.

And for people dreading the Hyjal questlines, it's really not so bad. I recently went through Hyjal on my Warlock and I cleared the zone in about two light (about 2 hours each) sessions. I got up to Tortolla quests after my first session so it shouldn't take too long.

Also, I was leveling so if you're bringing in a 85 to do the quests then you should blast through these much faster than I did.

I periodically pester poor Kailope on the # of days to do them. My impression it was longer than 3 days. Get 20 tokens @ X per day (4? 5?) then I think another grind. Then you have three vendors who each want 125 tokens at perhaps 12 or 14 a day. I don't know and Blizzard could change it at any time. The last I read was to get all three vendors and a fiery mount required 695 tokens. So if you have to do the 20 mark quest and then both the 150 mark quests before you can start working on giving the vendors their 125 each, it will be a while.

But yes, you are absolutely right you want to have the Hyjal pre-grind out of the way before 4.2.

N.B. If you are that sort of person, you can find all your guildies who erroneously said Vash'jir was better and skipped some or all of Hyjal and do a /IToldYouSo dance around them.

      *** Update ***
After I posted, Kaliope the Wonderful came through again.
Your guildie was off by an order of magnitude.

      http://kaliope.crafterstome.com/2011...l-vendors.html

So Phase 1 is 3 days, Phase 2 is 11 days, Phase 3 is 12 days. At that point it is 5 days to unlock each vendor.

So 31 days and a few hundred quests and you shall have your first pattern. Ten days after that you shall have all three vendors unlocked.

But all that is moot if people don't follow your wonderful explanation and be ready when 4.2 drops!

What I find really interesting about this stockpiling for 4.2 is that everyone expects the prices to explode on patch day. That may be the case for some items , and enchanting mats; but for the mats for the recipes it will take 31 before there is any kind of demand for good such as , , and most of the Volatiles.

I wonder if some people will be too eager to unload and not have the patience to wait 31 days. It might even be possible to snatch some goods up at a lower price than now (same principle as the Darkmoon Faire, where the period of highest demand is also the period of highest supply so it more than evens out). Just food for thought...

EDIT: I have no idea why Hardened Elementium Bar points to Enchanted Elementium Bar instead !?!

Let's say it this way: Stockpiling is about having patience and not unloading all of your stuff in a rush of panic. So sure, it takes 30 days 'til the first recipes will hit the market. And until then, many ppl will already have downed some bosses in Firelands, so at least their mains won't need to much of the gear anyways. But hey... i'm pretty confident that we're getting a good deal out of the stockpiled mats in any case. Just because it always have been so.

And if the prices are good, then i'm gonna unload a bit of my mats even on Patchday.

@Nilaus, there are new profession items coming in patch 4.2 that aren't only sourced from these vendors.

For example there is a new set of blue pvp for blacksmithing/jewelcrafting/leatherworking/tailoring that are obtained from your trainer. These will chow a lot of materials because of their increases ilvl (I believe 358).

Exactly. They also allow pre-raiders to jump right into ZA/ZG heroics so they can start farming valor points ASAP. Come to think of it, you might want to stay away from the dungeon finder early on

Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up! Turns out the required quest is fairly deep into the Hyjal quest line...I caught a couple toons up ahead of the rush thanks to your timely post.

I don't have time to look it up right now, but if someone could post the macro/script to check to see if you've completed the quest, I'm sure others would find that useful.

It's amazing to me the number of people that haven't opened this chain yet, since by doing so you also gain access to the vendor with the Twilight Cult that sells food you can't get elsewhere for the achievement. Such easy gold, please don't go any further, I like my near monopoly.

And these dailies will require about a month of grinding to gain access to the new recipe vendors. Since this is Argent Tournament 2.0, I'm pretty sure people will see the initial gold made off the 365s and have some motivation, but I predict that will wane quickly since the majority of people won't have much desire to grind normal heroics.

Is there a hotkey to access this, or a command line? For some reason it is not listing it on my addons, but when I view the worldmap it is showing it sort of.

I'm doing them but I haven't been able to do them every day although I know that's where the greatest profit would be. My fiance's 2nd son is visiting from NY for this month (we should have the boys back together full time after this next school year) so I'm obviously spending more time making sure the boys have a good time and interact well... Being they are 9 (almost 10) and 6, the sibling rivalry often rears it's ugly head... and let's face it, fake gold will never be worth more than real family. At least, not in my book... Still gotta go to school though (which is where I am now)...

In your situation Voltec, I totally understand that situation. I have the niece and nephew next week and since they are almost teenagers I believe this will be one of the last times I get to see them where they want to hang out with their nutty uncle and sibling rivalry usually ends in a UFC style cage match between them. Thank goodness they still have bedtimes. Then Uncle Zerohour can get his tokens!
