  • WoW's Rarest Recipes - Snatch 'Em Up!

The single most efficient gold-making technique involves a lot of AH farming. Most Goblins do it, most entrepreneurs do it, and if you're new to this site, you'll be doing it soon, too. The Consortium is also the only place that will tell you straight up what to look for and how exactly to do it.

What to look for - Calianna's "Items you should have on your Snatch List".
What to look for - Share Your Latest Deals and Steals.

How it's done - AH Entrepreneurship (auctioneer).
How it's done - Monitor Your Competition's Cross Faction Trading Activities.

Every so often, Calianna's snatch list is expanded with more rare recipes and items. Have you ever wondered which is the rarest? Recipes like , and immediately come to mind, but are they the rarest of the bunch? Nope!

    The title of WoW's rarest recipe is shared by 22 recipes;

In the past 1.5 years, only 2 of the above recipes have ever appeared at the Thunderlord AH, only to vanish immediately. TUJ searches will yield similar results. If you were to check the availability of, say, , you would find that the recipe is available on several realms. This is not the case for these Sunwell recipes, which are often unavailable on all US realms. How's that for rare?

In terms of pricing, I'd throw these in the extreme price range. Considering things like can fetch 9000g for a patient seller, Sunwell recipes should easily sell for 10,000g or more.

So add these to your snatch list. Add them to your TUJ notifications. Buy em, flip em' and thank me later!

I managed to pick up the schematic for the shaman goggles along time ago, thinking I would be able to learn it on my rogue. Honestly, I couldn't even give the thing away.

All of those are BoE Sunwell drops right?

I keep wanting to farm those, but I can never find anyone to farm them with. Kind of hard to solo that trash even as a prot warrior.

It might be worth noting that some of these recipes are not as rare as the rest. I ran a TUJ search on all of these, and found most goggle (headpieces) recipes to be somewhat common - about 6 available across the US, on average. The remaining recipes are ultra-rare and didn't show at all, anywhere.

Yes, there are some BOP drops as well, I'm not sure how rare those are.

The recipes in Sunwell were really strange. There were BOE recipes that made BOP items and BOP recipes that made BOE items.

this; I tried to solo farm a bit yesterday before my guilds main raid.

The robot Sunblade's hit for about 10k on a clothie, and have about 300k health, and i never managed to get a trash group down

Also felt the urge to capitalize and didnt want to share, so I went first with the DK tank, who has great survivability but bad single target dps. Coupled with no CC, it went poorly for me and I bailed after a few attempts. Went in with my combat rogue and fell into a groove immediately. The real threat is in the sunblade slayers - their slaying shot scales with your hp and is a wicked nasty dot. Couple that with him having decent AI and scattershotting you when youre low, he must be dealt with seperately. I made him the sap target. The rest of the trash group are all girls at 85. LoS pull around a corner, burn the dawn priest (healer) asap and then shred the rest. Slayer solo is still a handful but way more doable when he's alone and there aren't 30 fiends on you. Cleared just the first 5 or so pulls before going to bed exhausted last night.I'll have time to give it a serious go tonight, will report back with my findings.

Thanks for this! After reading the article yesterday I added all of these to my TUJ snatch list, and wouldn't you know less than 24 hours later I get a notification that is available on my realm.... for 100g bid/500g buyout.

Anyway, I promptly bought it out and am listing it for 10,000 now. Does anybody know what this item is worth exactly?

It's hard to pin an exact value on ultra-rares like this. Volatiles, for example, follow a strict supply & demand function because there's a high inflow and outflow. For rare patterns, demand could be extremely low at any given time, and extremely high depending on who seeks the recipe. I've said it before and I'll say it again; list the item for extravagant prices until you find the ONE buyer willing to pay your price. You don't really have to worry about the other 100 buyers with shallower pockets.

That's what I figured. Maybe I'll up the asking price to 20,000 for a few days with full intent to come down on it later... I've found this is a good strategy with rare pieces anyway because it trains people's auctioneer addons to overvalue an item, and I'm not in a hurry to sell now.

These kinds of resales are great - if you have the patience to wait for that one collector/completionist, which may take months. Plus these items have no relevance even among twink players.

If I found one of these up for 0 to 500g, great. Not such a big loss if it never sells. But I would never buy one for 5k and hope to resell it at something absurd like 20k.

Got for 100g 3 months ago. Have been listing on 48 hour intervals since, have lost 4g every relisting.

So far you bought it for 100G, have spent 180G relisting it for 3 months. Assume it takes you another 12 months to sell for 5000G (which is a low price) it will cost you another 720G.

That is still a 5 fold return on the money you have spent. This is all for the small amount of work it takes to run from the mailbox to the AH every second day.

Selling rare items on the AH is the highest GPH activity that I know off. Fortunately it requires patience which not many in our community have.

      BE PATIENT!

Oh, I know. Im sitting on a few...and am not budging on prices. I have also learned...at the end of even say a year of listing it...will I really miss the small amount if it doesnt sell? Probably not.

I also forsee some rarer recipes like this POSSIBLY gaining more value in 4.3. I mean...not only is it rare, but that means that someone could buy it, craft it and wear it....how many hard khorium battle plates will be running around?

I think there are actually SIX jewelcrafting recipes in the Sunwell Plateau...

Though sadly, three of them are BoP.

      Here's the Wowhead search...
Jewelcrafting Designs - Items - World of Warcraft

I've made quite a bit of gold flipping rare recipes. In fact, it's the only auction house method I really use. Other methods take too much time, in my opinion.

The most expensive sale I ever had was one of the four rare transmute recipes (I forget which one)...
Alchemy Recipes - Items - World of Warcraft

      It sold for 19,000 gold.

Well, if you use simple logic I'd say..

      pro's
      its epic

      con's
its a lvl 70 item, low demand
lvl 70 mats(expensive ones) aka low supply due to low demand

I'd say it's not worth anything. Why would it be really? Today it's just an trash item even though of it's purple shinyness. Unless you're finding some paladin who's twinking PvE at 70 for some reason.

      Three letters... O. C. D.

THAT is why these recipes are worth something.
