  • Huge Darkmoon Shuffle Success - 1k Turned Into 20k

A little while ago Duck posted a thread about the "Darkmoon Faire" shuffle, where one could turn in s in exchange for Darkmoon prizes which can contain valuables. At the time, it hadn't been established whether the investment was worthwhile. Fast-forward a few months, and a lot of sampling, it's well understood that the "Darkmoon shuffle" is indeed worth the investment.

    Last night I spent a couple hours turning in all my , and the results were as follows;

    3800 s / 9500 tickets / 237 prizes;

    364 - 91g
    1 - 16g
    37.333(...) - 1568g
    8 - 1g

    6 - 6g
    8 - 64g
    7 - 21g
    x 3 - 50g

    x 2 - 30g
    - 100g
    - 400g
    - 90g

    x 3 - worthless
    x 2 - worthless
    x 2 - 180g
    x 3 - worthless
    - worthless
    - 200g
    x 2 - 20g
    - worthless
    x 2 - 15,000g
    - worthless
    x 2 - worthless
    x 2 - worthless
    - 700g
    x 2 - worthless
    - worthless
    x 2 - worthless
    - 3000g
    - worthless

    Total revenue: 21,500g
    Cost: 760-1300g
    Profit: ~20,000g

has a "seen" count of zero and I'm setting up a 10k sale with a hardcore completionist whom is missing only this recipe. In time, I imagine the 2nd will sell for 5k. Arguably, I was lucky with these pattern drops, but even without the Radiant Belt plans, I'd still turn heavy profits.

The next step is to establish the loot table for . We will continue discussing drops in Duck's original thread, where players have been reporting their yields.

What have you obtained from the Darkmoon Shuffle?

The only things of note from me were and besides the large amount of dust, decent amount of GEE's, and a few bags that I sent to alts that I "plan" on leveling.

This is good data, Snowdeath. We hadn't previously seen in any trial.

      3800 Dense Grinding Stones = 15200 Dense Stones = 760 Stacks

      Purchased at 1-1.5g

I don't know what to say about the belt recipe, I have had mine listed for ages @ 900 gold and still no buyer..

I have two of them, and I've had trouble selling them as well. From experience, I've learned to be extremely patient with rare, unassuming recipes. You're catering to an extremely niche market... Hard core collectors with deep pockets to finance their in-game hobby.

i've been away from the forums for a while. This is a great article to come back to . I am most definitely going to try it. Thanks Duck and Sterling.

I think I'm going to give this a shot. There's only about 30 auctions on the AH for dense stone, maxing out at 1g ea.; mostly stacks.

I just need to find a bored Blacksmith.

I dont think llane has a single collector of recipes, I've been sitting on rares for a month, I gave up on that market

One of the reason I would love a 72 hour or even a week long posting period for many of these rare collector items.

I'm definitely going to give this a try, as Dense Stones are currently 3s a pop on my realm. Just use a BS to grind them, and then turn in when the Faire is, and DE the results?

      Here are my results.

Bought all stones at under 1g/stack, ended up with about 1600 tickets.
      DE'd all greens:
      77 x70s = 53.9g
      7 x20g = 140g
      x1g = 1g

      90g
      1g
      12g

      2 x65g = 130g
      ???
      ???
      25g
      junk
      junk

Next time, I hope to pay better attention to the greens, maybe turn a bit better profit from them than just straight up conversion to Dream Dust.

It bears repeating, DE'ing weapons for GEE might make sense but DE'ing armor for Dream Dust is probably not as good as selling them at 10-25g each. Dream Dust is so low, you might even do better vendoring some of them.

Thanks! My data is relatively sparse, so it doesn't surprise me that I haven't seen one yet. Undermine Journal says one got sold for 40g recently, while it averages in the thousands on other servers. :/ We'll see what I can do.

Yeah... that was a major "herp derp" moment on my part.

I had 60 stacks of stone converted this past weekend. I don't have a BS so I paid a friend. I ended up paying him 1g per grinding stone (not counting for my purchase investment). I have some more and I may just go through a guildie for that, since he won't have the assumption of a hefty tip.

I have no problem tipping, though, because I feel I can still make money. Dense Stone is probably 30s each or less right now since Thorium is stupid easy to farm, apparently.

More info once the Faire shows back up.

I've piled up over 700 Dense Grinding Stone over the last week (buying some stone on AH for 5s or less each, plus what I got from farming Thorium to level my Blacksmithing). Should have more by next week's Faire. Hoping to hit paydirt with a lucky rare recipe... we'll see.

Thanks Sterling for this. I'm goona try my luck with my 200+ grinding stones too If you are a chanter (like me) I found that the scroll of echantment is a lucrative market instead of just selling the DEs, made about 100g/day for 3 days, at least on my server anyway.

I am wondering for anyone who has gone deep into this how quickly you sell the rare receipes. I am relucant to think I can make 20k from 1k when 18k of goods is coming from 3 items ()

Don't get me wrong I did this last fair got a couple reciepes haven't tried to sell any of them. I was more interested in getting my intial investment back quickly. I sold some greens on the AH and covered almost all of my costs.

The recipes can take months and months to sell. That's fine if you have a large investment capital remaining. In my case I ended up selling for 9k immediately after acquiring it (this reminds me, I forgot to post a screenshot).

1k -> 20k is extremely lucky, of course. My 2-3 previous dense stone shuffles were barely worth my time. If you don't want to wait for the recipes to sell, just dump them at 2000g each or something.
