  • Stockpile Report - Part 2: 700k And Counting

I've received several requests by users wondering exactly what I've been stockpiling. Cataclysm is 18 days away, and there's still plenty of time to invest all of that gold folks, and I'll tell you this - the best deals have yet to come. Expect to see a huge unloading frenzy in the days leading up to the expansion, as players re-activate their accounts and find bags full of goodies to sell off.

Today's snatch list item is my absolute favorite rep-grind items: and . These sell rarely, but when they do, the buyer wants everything now. Scattered supply means a lot of undercutting, you can grab these for under 1g and slowly build up a stockpile. I list at 50-60g per stack of 10, and every 1-2 weeks someone will come along and buy up everything.

Back on topic. Let's check out the items I chose to stockpile. I've invested about 700k so far, and hopefully this list can provide some insight to my readers:

    • 1600 x : See Stockpile Report - Part 1: Sell Me Your Titanium!
    • 48 assorted recipes from Knot Thimblejack's Cache.
    • 2 x : All items will become extremely rare and valuable. I could see these selling for nearly 100k once the expansion is well set in.
    • 2 x
    • 2 x
    • 1 x
    • 6,500 x Glyphs, mostly Major and Prime: Glyphmas was good, but I was unable to liquidate my full stock. Holding onto these glyphs for now, as I think Cataclysm will be good to scribes.
    • 24,000 x
    • 6,000 x
    • 1 x Full bank tab of materials for engineering pets: this will protect me from inflation for a while.
    • Hundreds of BoE Rares and Epics;
      • 30 x : Goblin and Worgen DKs will love these.
      • 2 x Full bank tab of epics such as , , , , etc: With the rebirth of twinking, and the staggering number of low level players we'll see in Cataclysm, I can guarantee that BoEs will surge in price across the board, especially epics like these.
      • 12 x : This novelty item is a very safe investment. Its price will rise parallel to inflation. I'm told [npc]Skarr the unbreakable[/npc] is no longer at the DM arena in Cataclysm. Either way, this one's a safe bet.
    • ~200 assorted twink items; , , , etc.
    • 42 x : Though most players will be able to solo MC with ease, everyone will be busy with new dungeons and reputation grinds. There are guild achievements for owning Legendary weapons, so expect these to be in demand. They also follow the aforementioned novelty rule.
    • 18 x
    • 21 x
    • 3 x : Novelty rule.
    • 17 x : A roll of the dice. Since the tome itself is staying in-game, it could become a drop, or a vendor sold item. In either scenario, there is a chance the tome will be valuable. At 500g or less, I think these are worth the risk.
    • Pets;
      • 9 x : I stockpiled these following Blizzard's annoucement. I'm now in the process of liquidating them, as Blizzard has reversed their stance on this pet.
      • 4 x : Apparently the NPC that drops these has succumbed to the Cataclysm. We'll see.
      • 2 x : See above.
      • 65 Argent Tournament pets: One of the most solid investments you can make. Nobody will farm these anymore. Add inflation and x-faction trading to the mix, and you're making a huge ROI on these beauties.
      • 2 x : I got these for cheap, figured I'd let them sit around until Cataclysm and sell them off for a bit more.
    • 6 x : See The Break We've Been Waiting For. I've personally checked Dirge on beta servers - he does not sell this recipe, as reported by some users (blatant misinformation, possibly).
    • 1566 x : Currently in huge supply due to all the dungeons being run. I think these are a safe investment going into Cataclysm. Enchanters use them to purchase recipes, and to level up.
    • 20k worth of 150+ skill enchanting materials: Mainly to supply enchanting scrolls deep into Cataclysm.
    • To-be-buffed greens from Deadmines (see Cold's Nine 10-19 Bracket Items Going Blue);
      • 33 x
      • 52 x
      • 84 x
      • 72 x
      • 50 x
      • 15 x
      • 20 x
      • 12 x
      • 19 x
      • 9 x
      • 6 x
      • 38 x
      • 7 x
      • 6 x
      • 35 x
      • 3 x

    • 200,000g worth of recipes: I would give more detail here, but doing so would probably reveal a great portion of the Wind Trader snatch list. Let me plant a seed though - how much are Sunwell recipes selling for now? If you answered: "dude, I've never even seen these, they must be worth a fortune!", you are correct. This in mind, what do you think will happen to present end-game raid, dirt cheap recipes?

I know this article will probably spark some heated debates. Just keep in mind, we call it speculation for a reason - no investment is guaranteed. I Look forward to hearing about your stockpiles!

Eh... some items I feel as they're really stupid to invest in, especially the titanium ore and Recipe: Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops and the tome of polymorph, some of the enchanting materials as well. You're banking too much on selling enchants to levelers, and to be honest I doubt you'll get a good return on the enchanting stuff...

The blade of misfortune... blah I've leveled a DK to 65 four times now, and I just use a BOA weapon, I don't see these selling for very much, seeing as you can't just make a DK on a brand new account, you'd have to have a 55+ toon, and if you do this generally means you have access to an 80 that can acquire BOA's

Just my opinion, not flaming or anything

I'd rather use the word "risky" to describe the Tome of Polymorph and Kickin' Chimaerok Chops recipe investments. No investment is "stupid" when one has weighed the risks and made an educated decision.

The enchanting materials represent ~2.5% of my total investment. There will be a resurgence in twinking in Cataclysm, and if I do lose out, it won't be by much.

Blade of Misfortune is selling in the 300-600g range now, there is absolutely no reason for them to lose value going forward. Seeing how I purchased under 300g, this is a very reasonable investment.

I guess you could say that, It's extremely risky to keep those two items.

As far as the titanium ore... that is my opinion is kind of dumb, you'd be better off stockpiling Saronite ore if you want titanium bars, if you want it to prospect, again you're better off with Saronite, as it yields more gems that people leveling Jewelcrafting would use. I skimmed your post about titanium, I'll go read it and see your reasoning behind stockpiling so much titanium. But I still don't see why in the world you would stockpile titanium ore over saronite, especially if you're turning the raw titanium into bars

Everyone is different, you might think X item will be profitable, while another person will think Y item will be profitable, it's just personal opinion I suppose.

They will go the way of previous end-game recipes - A curiousity for completionists (raises hand). I could swear they were making these things trainable with the profession trainers at much higher skill requirements. I could be wrong though.

It's my understanding they are also not removing Kingslayer.

There's a Muradin's Favor lying in the AH right now for 16k, wondering if I should buy it and relist it later (only problem is I've only got about 30k on me as most of my gold is tied up in investments.

I've put more investment into Saronite ore, mostly because it sells very close to the bar vendor price, and often below it on my server when it drops and is MUCH more flexible than Titanium in it's usage. Titanium, however, sells for far too high on my server to consider stocking at the moment. I have it on my snatch to watch if it does drop though, and I don't think it will hurt much to make an investment based on experience and educated speculation. However, if that demand is there, and you can provide your Titanium products with a competitive price and still make a good ROI it's probably more efficient than going from Saronite -> Titanium -> Product.

not too sure on titanium either.. I've stockpiled like 10k saronite instead..
