So a while back I read this thread and started camping the neutral ah. I've bought a few small things out from under people but nothing too wild. Today I'm messing around on my main in one monitor and camping the neutral ah on my other account in another monitor. I catch a glimpse of purple out of the corner of my eye when a scan hits and I see "Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger" flash and disappear. Obviously I nearly have a heart attack. Then I nearly have one again when a magic rooster egg shows up in a search and im too slow to grab it and the addon wont snatch it. At that point I just filtered to mounts and kept refreshing manually until...
And only for 1 silver! Any hints for me to avoid missing any spectral tigers that flash before me in the future?
You know I have been doing this on and off since 2007 and never gotten a nice deal like that? :P damn you haha.
By default, Auctioneer's reload interval timer for RealTime Search is set to 6 seconds minimum. You can change this to 1-2 seconds minimum if you really want to.
Interface > Addons > Auc-Advanced > Modules > Auc-Util-SearchUI > Open SearchRealTime.lua with notepad.
Find:
Change to:Code:"realtime.reload.interval", 6, 60, 1, "Reload interval: %s seconds"
Then restart wow, go to the 'realtime' section under 'options' and move the slide bar down to 1 or 2 seconds. It will then reload faster and pick up new items quicker.Code:"realtime.reload.interval", 1, 60, 1, "Reload interval: %s seconds"

My issue wasn't the slow scan times, it was that my auctioneer never opened a quick buy window for the items. Though I will increase the reload time now. ThanksI got super super lucky

It could be that it's because you do not have that item in your auctioneer's database. If you look at your screenshot it says that it's never seen it before therefore has no auction value for it, and you cannot vendor the item. Therefore the addon ignored it because it did not meet the arbitrage or vendor requirements.

Wow - that's truly amazing!
Surely there has never been a greater bargain than that one! Has the seller tried to contact you? They must be cursing your name!
A funny story... some months back, I was moving items cross-faction and got a little lazy. I usually run two accounts, and can post-buy faster that you can grab your mouse to click on the Buy button. But something happened, and I just got a little lazy looking at the wrong screen. I had a bunch of stacks of [Titansteel Bar]s I was moving from Horde to Alliance. Out of all of that, some guy sniped TWO (BARS) from from me, then immediately logged off. Well about 2 minutes later, I'm on my banker in SW, and I see some guy in Alliance Trade chat shouting at the top of his lungs, "OMG OMG some loser just posted Titansteel bars on the neutral AH for 1c each, I stole them, and now I am RICH!!". Quite a few peeps were congratulating him for being so quick, some were laughing at him, and a few were chastising him for stealing my bars.
Anyway, thinking I was only on Horde, he was too dumb to realize I could read it all. SO I whispered him, "Hey - I'm the guy you got the bars from - mind selling them back to me?". I was quickly learning this kid must have been about 10yrs old. His response, "Yeah you n00b, 200g - ha ha ha ha ha! You are SOOO STUPID!!!!!!!". I lol'ed back, and asked him again, "Seriously - I was transferring those cross-faction - mind being a nice guy and getting them back to me?". His next reply bothered me, "Sure - 300g now you n00b. I am rich and you are broke - nanny nanny boo boo!". So I stroll over to the AH area, type "/tar snipeguy", and wow - there he is!
I never got the bars back, but I had fun with this guy. I opened trade with him. Put 6 STACKS of Titansteel Bars in, and then type about 180k Gold in the Trade window, slowly, 1 character at a time, and very careful to have my mouse on the other side of the screen (I know - risky in case my hand slips, but hey - it's all fake, right?). Then of course I cancel. Then I whisper him one last time, "Kid - as you can see from that trade, I wipe my A$$ with stacks of Titansteel Bars. So good job stealing those two you got, but look what you COULD have had if you weren't so short sighted!".
Then he tries to be nice to me, "Hey - how'd you get all of that? Do you need any help?" blah blah blah. Point is, I had fun with it. It wasn't a Deathcharger, which would have changed this story, but still.

I finally got around to giving this arbitrage a try. I think I clicked all the right boxes/buttons, etc....I was seeing a few popup windows.
I have never really got into the non-intutive features of auctioneer so I do have some questions about the setup.
The author starts off with saying create a new profile, what is the purpose of profiles?
Searches -> Arbitrage page:
Are the Search Type (Cross-Realm) and Cross-Realm Additional Settings (realm name, alliance) needed? What is the difference between cross-realm and cross-faction? If my toon is ally do I need realm-name & horde in the additional settings section and vice-versa for horde toons?
What causes the arbitrage popup to disappear, some times is goes away before I can click it? I did modify the .lua to support 1sec refreshes and had auctioneer set to 2secs.
You can create several different profiles for different uses. You see when you click the magnifying glass icon it start scanning for ALL of the Searches options that are displayed on the Search Tab (aka Arbitrage, Converter, Disenchant, EnchMats, General, Milling, and so on). When you are sniping you don't want to scan for ALL of those. You only want to scan for Arbitrage and Vendor. Some people already have their own profiles for things like milling or snatch. They don't want to have to remove those settings when ever they snipe so they can create another profile.
When it comes to the search type (Cross-Realm or Cross-Faction) you will notice there are three options. If you select Neutral from the list, you will notice that just above it will say "Searching: Realmname/Neutral". If you change it to Cross-Faction it will say "Searching: Realmname/Opposite Faction to what you are currently" and if you choose Cross-Realm it will say "Searching: Realmname/Your Current Faction".
You will notice that the title for this section we are looking at now is "Search Against". Meaning it is comparing data from the Auction House you are scanning right now (in this case Neutral Auction House) and compares it to Other Auction House Data files (which is what the Cross-Realm, Cross-Faction and Neutral Options of the drop down list do).
Cross-Realm: Compares Current Auction House to your Current Realm's Faction (aka if you are on an Alliance char it will compare Neutral Auction House to Alliance Auction House Data).
Cross-Faction: Compares Current Auction House to your opposite Faction's AH (aka if you are on an Alliance char it will compare Neutral Auction House to Horde Auction House Data).
Neutral: Compares Current Auction House to your Neutral Auction House Data. (This is used if you are at an Alliance or Horde Auction House and want to compare it to the Neutral Auction House).
Modifying the reload interval to a quicker speed both has it's pros and cons. It reloads faster so it picks up items faster. But the faster reload also makes it do just that. It will scan between the last and second last page over and over (let's say for e.g. it's scanning between page 3 and 4, 3 and 4, 3 and 4, 3 and 4, etc.). If it alerts you to an item on Page 3, when it switches to Page 4 it will remove that alert because that item is no longer on the current page that it is viewing.

I wish this dialogue box had an "Ignore" button on it, much like the auto-prospect box has (which is bugged right now, I believe). That way I don't have to keep clicking on "Cancel" when someone posts 5, 10, or 20 of the same item in singles.
