    Profitable Leveling Guide: Enchanting 1-525

This guide shows how to level enchanting from 1-525 in the most profitable manner. The strategy is to craft nothing but profitable recipes, and to fall back to the cheapest crafts when no profitable recipes are available for skilling up. This guide sets you up with the most profitable recipes as well - the rep grinds may seem tedious - but it's all worth it in the end.

Note: This guide assumes you are part of a level 14 guild with "Working Overtime" (+10 chance to level when crafting).

To-Do List - Requires Reputation or Dungeon Runs

    Required or strongly recommended:

    Optional:

Shopping List - Purchase From Vendor or Auction House

    Required or strongly recommended:

    Optional:

    Shopping List

This list is based on the recommended path as seen further below. It will get your to 525 by using a decent mix of profitable recipes. Before committing to this shopping list, you should first read the leveling guide to make sure that the list works for you.

    1-90

The first 90 levels are extremely cheap, and should be hammered out as quickly as possible disregarding cost. Don't even bother putting these enchants on Vellums, simply enchant a cheap pair of bracers over and over.

    90-180

In this range, there are several weapon glow enchants that you may either sell through trade chat or sell at the auction house. If you're selling transmog weapons, you can also use these enchants to increase sales (works great!).

    180-300

    • 180-225: 50 x [Enchant Bracer - Strength]: 1 x Vision Dust
This enchant is the cheapest gap filler here and should only cost a few silver a pop.
    • 225-265: 40 x [Enchant Cloak - Lesser Agility]: 2 x Lesser Nether Essence
Great twink enchant that sells well at the AH. Cheap to boot!
    • 265-275: 10 x [Enchant Weapon - Fiery Weapon]: 4 x Small Radiant Shard | Essence of Fire
    • 275-300: 25 x [Enchant Chest - Major Health]: 2 x Small Brilliant Shard
This is the highest ROI enchant in the game. Insanely cheap and a great seller. Turns green at 315 and gray at 335, so you can just keep crafting them if you want.

You can also make the following enchants on-route to 300 and beyond, the agility enchants are particularly good sellers:

    300-390

At 300 skill you have plenty of profitable leveling options. You can continue crafting the agility/strength/health enchants as seen above or you can move to greener pastures. Your selection will depend on the recipes you were able to acquire. I operate on the assumption you picked up the more common recipes. All of the enchants below can be sold at great profit and are reasonably easy to obtain. You don't have to craft them in that order either!

If you were lucky enough to pick up [Enchant Chest - Greater Stats], you can also make that at 300-325 (2 x Large Brilliant Shard | 6 x Illusion Dust).

    390-525

The remaining 135 points are mostly smooth sailing.

IMO a key part of working with enchanting early on when you have no gold (e.g. you just rolled a new toon and picked the enchanting profession while having no income to buy mats with) is to buy items off the AH, disenchant, and resell to provide an income stream as a fresh toon.

I salute the series of Profitable Leveling Guides! It helps re-rollers tremendously whilst also adding some focus.

I don't particularly agree however with the above comment. In order to buy items for DE you need some money. As far as starting money connected to enchanting goes, I would say that buying Star Wood, Lesser Magic Essence, Strange Dust, Enchanting Vellums and some of the limited quantity recipes from the Enchanting Supplies vendor then selling them on AH is able to help with starting money.

What I wouldn't agree with also is getting Enchanting on the first toon on a new server (this should be the only situation when you don't have money on a new toon on a given server - when you are not backed up by a main); when rolling your first toon on a different server you need to think of the following:
    - getting mining/ skinning/ herbalism between lvl 1-10 when you should already reach one of the citadels, get to the AH and unload your stacks of ore/ bars/ leather/ herbs while getting runecloth/ netherweave bags and start brokerage with biding on items and selling them for profit.
    - accessibility to most areas
    - easy to solo class
    - knowledge with class mechanics
    - the above is important because your first toon should be able to get to lvl 55 as soon as possible (so that a second toon with fewer level restrictions as far as class levels vs. profession levels go - basically we're talking about being able to open a Death Knight)

With enchanting on your first toon you will never get to have 1-5k before level 10
Enchanting however is good on your second toon, the Death Knight as it will use the money collected by your main, while opening more money making possibilities.

When I said accessibility to most areas I generally meant being able to teleport. Hence, I was talking about a mage. At lvl 24 the mage unlocks the teleports to Undercity, Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon, Orgrimmar (or Darnassus, Exodar, Ironforge, Stormwind or Theramore - yes, Alliance has 5 teleports at lvl 24; Horde gets the 5th at lvl 52 - Stonard). With your main toon a mage lvl 55 it's now easy to get to lvl 60 then fly to Stormspire in Netherstorm for obvious reasons (HSing there is a great strategy too). Until lvl 60 your HS should be Dalaran for the same obvious reasons (we are talking vendored pets )
Getting into a guild of at least lvl 6 with your main toon is a must as well (for the XP bonus perks). Your first toon on a new server cannot have heirlooms (as you cannot transfer heirlooms cross server, only cross faction - "BoA" actually means "can be transferred to any character on the same account and realm") unless you do character transfer, on which the whole purpose of moving on a new server and starting from scratch is wasted.

What doesn't seem sane is getting Engineering on your main toon. But that helps with "location, location, location" later on. Being able to teleport to Area 52 in Netherstorm and to Everlook in Winterspring helps for various (good) reasons (I play Horde). But what Engineering is very good with is offering many options with Darkmoon Faire as it has the most craftables used by the returnable DMF quests. Engineering coupled with Inscription makes a very nice pair for a main toon. Inscription will back up the leveling of Engineering, Engineering will open pets and other trade goods, and DMF will be a joke. I look forward to seeing how it will be changed come 4.3.

I am sorry for the rant.
In conclusion, congratulations once again for the series, and no, I don't agree with getting Enchanting on your first toon on any server,
when you have no gold (e.g. you just rolled a new toon and picked the enchanting profession while having no income to buy mats with)
. On your second toon, that's fine, since you will have the money to level it with no stress.

I would flip vendor recipes/low value bids for starter capital, then use that gold to buy items to be disenchanted as it is very much an economy of scale operation.

Hey, Im new here and was going to use your great guide, however it seems like you have a lot of overlap and tons of extremedly rare recipes. Is there any way you could maybe post a least profitable recipe? For instance, I pretty much got all the mats but missing a couple unfarmable recipes, like minor beastslaying and chest - greater stats.

Also, quick note. Crusader requires RIGHTEOUS ORBS, not Crusader Orbs. The shopping list also mentions them. Almost bought 10 at like 300g a pop till I realized they arent used for enchanting :P

Anyways, great guide! Will save all scrolls and post how much gold I made when I am done

The overlap was left there intentionally. It allows players to really pick and chose which path they rather take. The downside is that you end up having to generate your own shopping list. As far as rare recipes go, you're right, but most can be skipped (like Greater Stats).

Thanks for that, I fixed the error. I hope you didn't take a loss on those orbs .

Don't worry, after 3 and a half years of playing I pretty much know the mats for most recipes xD Although I'd like to know, the AH recipes, mainly Cloak- Lesser Agi, 2H lesser Spirit, Minor Beastslayer and Chest- Greater stats, any places you'd recommend farming? I honestly don't mind that much, I constantly search on the AH but this is probably faster :P Gotta farm crusader too, kinda really sucks. Is there anything other than minor beastslayer profitable before like 250?

I don't think Chest - Greater Stats is farmable, really, but if you were determined I'd say looking at WoWhead your best shot is doing lots of runs of Karazhan. Several different mobs, not all unique, drop it, though at very very low rates. I got mine dirt cheap and it is a good seller.

Great guide @Sterling ! Just finished it up last week and for the most part it worked great! Some of the enchants sell better then others, but i'm sure thats very server dependent. The glow ones MUST be barked or they will not move.

However all the recipes listed sell for at least the cost of the mats on my server, so i'm sure once i move all these scrolls in a couple weeks i'll be in the black for leveling.

+rep! (and onto the profitable alch guide! )

EDIT: Apparently i've given you to many rep cookies recently sterling. So no rep for you!
