    Unreasonable competition, possibly cheating?

There is a player undercutting my auctions every day within minutes. I added him to my friends list and it shows him logging on and off every 2-3 minutes 24 hours a day. His UMJ page shows him posting almost 24 hours a day. Has anybody else had to deal with this? Could this be a bot taking advantage of the out of game auction house?

Ive had a similar situation. What i did was park my alt at whatever auction house they are at, watch them, when they go to the mailbox and return, i know that is when they undercut me, so i am able to relist my auctions with minimal downtime.

IF you cant do that, like you said he relists withing minutes, theres nothing you can realy do. You could report them but i hear blizzard does nothing about it, i reported mine about 2-3 times per day just reinforcing what i see (hasnt logged in 4 days straight, etc) though, after doing that i havnt seen him OR his alt i also reported online in the past 2 days.

I also made sure they knew i was watching, constant targeting them, following to mailbox etc, I did it to my bot and eventually the person realised i was onto them so they tried to run, i followed, never let them out of my sight. I know that may be over kill but theres realy nothing you can do, it scares the shit out of the botter and hopefully deters them from continuing.

Its also a good idea to find their alts and know when they are online, and follow/make yourself known to his other characters as well.

That's pretty much what i've been doing. He has relocated to Silvermoon, probably to stay out of my view(too bad I have a mage), but i've been whispering him on all of my characters letting him know that I know what he's doing. I've reported him as well.

I found a bot doing this with enchanting scrolls and a few other markets awhile back. He undercut with consistent frequency and on such a number of markets that it seemed inhuman. What I also began to notice is that after a couple days it would be a completely different toon using the same tactics and weird undercut amounts on all the same items. After a time I discovered about 6 toons that this guy had in rotation. I reported him on many occasions giving Blizz details and letting them know what all toons were being used. Seemed to work after a time and the guy stopped showing up, but sadly there's always another bot to take their place eventually.

All this to say, don't be afraid to report and give details. Reporting multiple times if nothing happens doesn't hurt either if you're willing to sacrifice the time ti takes to do so.

Next time he logs in, try to find him in the world. If you can't, as you suggested he may be using the remote armory. I assume your toon doesn't actually show up somewhere when you're in via the armory, but I don't know for sure since you can't get into WoW and the armory at the same time.

I don't know if Blizzard has limitations which prevent a developer from writing a program that automatically lists auctions. I know they go after mods that become publicly available via Curse and the other sites that automate things they'd prefer not be made automatic, but if one guy writes his own web-based mod to automatically list items, I'm not sure what his limitations are. Erorus probably has a feel for how viable it is after coding The Undermine Journal.

If this is the case, wouldn't the 200 daily API transaction limit really limit a "bot" from posting. Disclaimer, I have only ran into this limit buying from both the iphone and wow website interface... not posting, but I would imagine encompasses both. I cancel/relist a lot more than 200 a day in game on my bank toon.

Hmm, if they definitely implemented that limit within the API and not just inside of Blizzard's own iPhone/Android app and armory web site pages, then yea, it should.

Scientia, how many auctions are you seeing him undercut you on? A handful, dozens, hundreds?

Yes, the limit is enforced via the API and web versions as well.

Also if you friend someone, does it still show up next to their name if they're logged in via remote rather than the game client?

Hey, guys. So I just created this account a few minutes ago so that I could reply to this thread. There's a guy (bot perhaps) that has been running this game on me for quite some time now. At first I just happened to notice this lvl 5 alt parked at my auction house ALL day EVERY day. I figured he was just a legit goblin and put him on my friends list. Then one day he disappeared and I got the system message "friend removed because they no longer exist" and what do you know... not just one, but two brand new lvl 5s parked at the AH. I watched them follow each other, target each other, run back and forth between two different lvl 25 guild banks.

One day I checked my friend list and sure enough they were in Org. Five minutes later they were in Durotar. Another five minutes passes and they're both in The Barrens. Ten minutes later one of them logs off and guess what happened 5 minutes after that? "Friend removed because they no longer exist."... WTH LOL?!

Skip to present day and one of them is still parked at my auction house but now he has a lvl 90 that's always checking in with him several times a day. The lvl 90 is always running back and forth between the lvl 5 and Jade Forest which seems to be the bot Mecca these days. I think it may be about time to report. What do you guys think?

ANYWAYS lol... if you want my advice... level engineering up to 235 on your bank toon and make a bunch of these trinkets called Goblin Mortar. Stand next to him and use it. It has a small chance to fail and when it does it damages you and does AoE fire damage strong enough to kill a lvl 5. This is what I do ALL day and while it doesn't help the real issue all that much it's freaking hilarious (when it actually works)! So that's my experience that I really wanted to share and I'm OUT!
