So with the transmog market floating around ok, and most of the goblins centering their business around flipping cheap parts of sets that appear on the AH, I thought I might look into how I could supply some. I noticed this thread Turning darkmoon tickets into profit, which touched on something I've being doing for a couple of months now. Decided to write it up.
The DMF provides "Replica" versions of the old Dungeon 1 & 2 sets from Vanilla that are no longer available anywhere else (except some of the BoA levelling gear).

Some of these look fairly dated and I wouldn't expect them to sell, but there are some great looking sets in there that will fetch a pretty penny.
Building a set, luckily, doesn't take 6 months like Blizzard would have you believe. You can use the monthly quest turn-ins to buy 1 piece of gear per levelled character on your account per month.
The Chest, Shoulders, Head, and Legs cost 75 tokens each.
The Wrists, Hands, Feet, and Belt cost 55 tokens each.
There are 9 turn-ins. Apart from 2, they all require lvl 15.
A Treatise on Strategy http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29451 - 15 tokens (level 85 only)
Soothsayer's Runes http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29464 - 10 tokens (level 85 only)
Ornate Weapon http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29446 - 10 tokens
Mysterious Grimoire http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29445 - 10 tokens
Monstrous Egg http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29444 - 10 tokens
Imbued Crystal http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29443 - 10 tokens
Captured Insignia http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29457 - 5 tokens
Banner of the Fallen http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29456 - 5 tokens
Adventurer's Journal http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29458 - 5 tokens
With these, a lvl 15+ character can get 55 tokens per month, and a lvl 85+ character can get 80 tokens per month.
If have the extra time on your hands, a lvl 15 character can complete the profession monthly quests (4 tokens each) and a couple of dailies to bring their monthly total up to 75 tokens, if needed. But, if you're lazy like me, you'll just be picking up the quest items when they're cheap between faires. It shouldn't cost much more than 1,000 gold, if that, to get the items you need for each character.
When you're buying armor pieces, try to get multiple pieces of the same set to increase the selling appeal. The pieces you want will depend on the set and which pieces are already getting posted on your server. But as an example, I sold 3 pieces of virtuous set to one person a couple of weeks ago, for 10-15k a pop. If you have no competition, I think the 10-15k range is suitable pricing for these pieces. You could charge around 5-10k for the less prominent pieces, but if you can, preference buying the major pieces first.
Fairly new to the market so, interested to know what experiences other people have had selling these items. The profit is there.
