We've all heard a lot about the best grinding spots for lovely charms and this site has churned out some great ideas in that regard, but I wanted to do something a little different. Due to my schedule and other hobbies and responsibilities I play very little compared to most people. I don't log on every day, and I rarely have more than an hour or two. This means efficiency is of the utmost importance.
I'm going to go thru the steps required to get not one bird, but several over the course of this holiday with minimal grinding for people like me with limited time. We are going to do this thru the dailies.
This will be from an alliance PoV, but the horde side isn't much different. You will need to decide which characters you are going to do this on. I have several 85s in addition to my main so while several of my lesser-played characters (think alchemy alts) are doing the daily runs, I will be doing a modified version of the run on my main, whilst also farming the bracelets all of my characters need.
Things to keep in mind when deciding on optimal characters:
Any character can do these quests but..
85s have access to 5-10 more tokens a day via the Crown Chemical Co. dungeon finder event in SFK
Mages should be given preference as they can move about much quicker.
Tanks and healers should be able to get into dungeon finder much quicker than DPS, but queues for me haven't been that long really.
Here we go:
The very first thing you need to do is talk to Kwee Q. Peddlefeet, a goblin near the Trade district bank in SW. Get a from him on literally every toon that will kill a mob (of a level that grants experience) during this event. This works similar to the DMF item for Grisly trophies.
The break down is this: 10 (BOP) = 1 (BOE with limitations) = 1 (BOP) (or 5 tokens each via quests.)
You need 270 tokens for and 40 for .
The next thing is to queue up for the Crown Chemical Co. thru the dungeon finder. Queue times have been between 5-15 minutes for most dps. This rewards you with the suggestively named which contains 5-10 more as well as a miniscule chance at the love rocket and some other vanity items. This is why you will ideally want to be collecting tokens on a max level toon.
There is a short questline that opens up another daily that a lot of people don't know about. This starts with Something Stinks - Quest - World of Warcraft (there is a breadcrumb quest from IF, but it is optional and rewards no tokens.) Finish this quest line and you will open up [Crushing the crown] This is a daily that depends on your level, but I personally had to go to Uldum on my 85s. Rewards 5
The other Daily will be randomly one of 3 quests given by Public Relations Agent - NPC - World of Warcraft. They are all pretty much the same- spray something on 10 players and turn in. Make sure to face the player you are trying to harass with perfume. (Bonus points if you can make a macro to do this. Share it here for +rep from me.) Rewards 5 .
There are also 4 dailies that require you to give a to your faction leaders. You pick up each quest in the appropriate city.
Before you go do all these make sure you have the 4 Bracelets you will need each day. It's up to you how to get them, there are a lot of great ideas in this thread: Love is in the Air Reminder
I recommend grinding up a bunch on one character then wrapping them up in wrapping paper and sending them to each character that will be doing these quests. Pick which ever grinding method suits you best.
Darnassus: The goblin who gives you the quest is west of the temple of the moon, and Tyrande is of course on the top level of the temple
Exodar: This one is the worst, it's the most travel and doesn't allow flying. The questgiver is OUTSIDE the exodar for some reason, so mount up and run there, then head back to Velen. (He is at the back of the middle section of the city.)
Stormwind: The quest can be picked up with all the other ones you already did near the Trade District Bank. Fly into the library area near the King to save time.
Ironforge: The quest is near the bank, Muradin is near the king.
Each of these will Reward 5 .
There was a lot of discussion in IRC yesterday about how best to do get from city to city, and credit to @Stede and a few others for figuring out what is most likely the most efficient way to get from one city to another in a short amount of time.
For alts you don't play everyday:
Get a port to Darn and set your hearth there. After you do the daily here take the port in the temple of the moon to Exodar.
After running around in Exodar for far too long, take the portal to Blasted lands. Once you go thru the Dark Portal there will be a portal back to stormwind on the other side.
In stormwind make sure to do your other dailies as well as giving the king a bracelet.
From there either fly or take the tram to IF and do that daily. After the daily do not hearth! Assuming this is a character you aren't going to use in the next 24 hours just park here till you do your next daily- then hearth to Darnassus. This means you only have to take one flight path every two days.
So to recap, your order on day 1 will be: Darn -> Exodar -> SW -> IF
Day 2 will be: IF -> Darn -> Exodar -> SW
Repeat this till the event is over.
Now for me, I'm also doing this on my main, and the last thing I want is for his hearth to be in Darnassus. Yuck. So what I do is...wish I was a mage. Seriously, if you have an 85 mage this will save you minutes off of the circuit every day.
I don't, so you can either pay for a port or just take the portal in SW to Mt. Hyjal (Moonglade if you are a druid) and fly to Rut'theran village. It is possible to fly directly to Darnassus now, but don't. It takes forever to fly up the tall tree, it is much quicker to get off the FP in the village and run thru the pink portal. From there proceed as normal.
The Final Countdown:
Ok so you've done all the dailies once- how many times do you have to do it? Each day should net you between 35-40 , depending on your luck from the . This means that you will be able to buy a Swift Lovebird in 8 days, 7 if you are extremely lucky. A mount and a pet is a maximum of 9 days. This means each character needs between 28-36 So get started now and you will have plenty of time!
This is my first guide, so please let me know if anything is unclear, or if you need pictures or more specific directions. Thanks.
