Stockpiling mats for 4.2 BoE Crafts?

MMO-Champion have released a list of 18 different new 378 ilvl profession plans/patterns, most of them being BoE.

The recipes mainly seem to depend on - most of them needing FOURTY at a time.

Other important items include , , and - the living embers seem to be the Cataclysm version of .
The leatherworking items of course all require too - but not in huge amounts.

I'm tempted to at least stock up on Volatile Fire.
Something I am concerned about with almost every one of them requiring 40 is that perhaps since it's the "Firelands", that type of volatile might be dropping in absolutely ridiculous amounts. 100-200 of a boss maybe? You never know.

Other than that, bring on the 378 ilvl boes for my alts ^.^

Edit: After I posted this I came across Faid's Blog post which is also related to this topic: http://nerffaids.blogspot.com/2011/0...not-among.html

Yup, just saw those myself. I'll be stocking on s for one (I've already started). They already consistently sell for over 350g, and I've found that since 4.1 hit, there's been something of a shortage; apparently, blizzard changed certain mobs so that they no longer loot scraps, but leathers - and t looks like farmers have been hurt by this change. I've managed to sell some hides for as high as 450g this week. I very much expect to see them sell quite high as soon as crafters start getting those patterns; besides, hides are quite safe to stockpile, in my opinion. They're useful for so many things (leg patches, for one), they always keep enough worth that you're not taking too many risks. Same goes for ; at the very worse, I'll make them into leg enchants or bags, but I can risk keeping a couple dozen under hand.

As for fires, while it's a possibility that there is some new and easy way to get a lot, it's still possible that prices will soar for the first couple of days, before everyone starts getting access to the new sources (if any), so I think it can't hurt to keep a few hundred handy.

The most interesting might be the which could cause a spike in elementium ore prices which will knock to gems prices and possible enchanting material/scroll prices. In basic form each blacksmithing piece is going to use up 10 stacks of elementium ore so i'm going to stockpile a bit to compensate as prices drop again.

Past that i would say the volatiles are certainly worth a dabble although due to the vast expense to be involved in crafting any piece i am not predicting a huge shift in related markets as this will hold back the markets for quite a while until the patterns become more common and some decent competition arises.

I might stockpile hardened elmentium bar mainly because i'm a miner. It might seem not as lucrative as stockpiling pristine hide but these bars are quite widely used as currencies for bs recipes as well as lvling various other professions, so I'd say safer than pristine hide. I'm not going to massively stockpile volatile fire for the reason of fireland raids. I'll definitely be making a lot of dreamcloth hoping for making money for crafting, but it's just me.

I'm choosing not to stockpile elementium ore because honestly, it would require a TON of epics to be crafted for it to affect the elementium ore price via hardened elementium bars. It's a supply that is so easily replenished, where as something like volatiles are harder to get hold of.

When i say stockpiling ore it is more as a security measure rather than a great expectation of a rise. I will mainly be holding onto a little extra stock than usual just in case but overall i expect very little to happen to any of the materials when the patch arrives as i already said the general expense along with the initial rarity is going to keep demand down to a trickle initially and overall demand for the required materials will be quite spread out.

I have bought up a few volatiles as a bit of a maybe but i suspect more than prices might rise in the run up the patch in expectation with people looking to profit off the new crafts and increased prices which is another reason i don't see a great prospect of price rises after the patch as when the patch arrives and not much happens people will be dumping those stockpiles.

I'm planning on stocking up some on Volatile Fire... several stacks worth probably. Part of it I will get from fishing it up... guild still needs 10,000 fishing achieve, so I might as well fish up Volatile Fire to help towards that.

I won't stockpile Pristine Hides, but I will likely save up 2 or 3 stacks of it. I foresee somewhat of a price increase, enough to warrant having a few stacks on hand.

In terms of Hardened Elementium Bars, I may save up several stacks of those as well.

But as Sinshroud said, I don't see a massive demand going out for the new epic crafted items. While, there will be demand in people's minds, actual realized demand probably will be less, mainly due to the amount of mats involved in making one piece, plus needing 8 Living Embers. Those Living Embers are NOT going to be cheap initially. If it's anything like Primordial Saronite was, they will start off at 8-10k apiece. Even as those prices drop, anything above 2k a piece will put these crafted items out of reach for a good number of people. That will be a pretty big squelch to the demand of the other mats.

I see the living embers as being raid trash/boss(Rare/50% drop chance) So depening on your usual server pugs could be able to snag a decently profitable price. Other mats probably wont increase since their near final teir crafting production and anyone doing that already is probably stocked up for a payday. Volatiles will always be a solid market untill they release the 10to1 conversion item(Maybe volatile fire in the living embers)

I'd probably jump on the engy cog mat market with the new upgraded helms wiht 2 sockects for cogs and any step in levelling engineering.

I'm thinking leather will be the way to go. It's not botted or farmed much, and remember that we're going to see new PvP crafted sets soon.

Depending on how much drops in Firelands, I may invest in this as well.
