    Banquets selling way below cost

Typical banquets take 10+10 meats (2-10g apiece), 25 veggies (50s-3g apiece) and an ironpaw mat (selling on my realm for 100g+ apiece). Total 150g-375g for a stack of 5.

They sell for 5-15g apiece. That is, 25-75g for a stack of 5.

Greater banquets have a similar loss. Clearly people are leveling cooking and dumping the results, especially the ones hitting 90 and running out of things to do. So the question becomes: what will the banquet market look like in 2 months when all the furious leveling draws to a close?

Limited by the supply of ironpaw tokens and therefore the banquets go way up in price? In other words, buy now, profit later?

Unlimited by the supply of farms and crafting mats and therefore the mat prices come way down to be in line with the banquet prices? i.e., just stay away.

Hey you're on my server! Ive noticed this as well. I'm working hard to try to raise food mat prices, but it does seem people on our realm are trying to crash the prices. I would say buy up the cheapstuff and feed it into the AH at a higher price at a steady rate. That's what I'm doing with veggies. Feel free to contact me if you want to chat.

This happens any time a recipe has to be created several times to level a profession by everyone that levels it. Leveling recipe items are almost always going to be under or too close mat cost. Add to that the fact that the Caches from some dailies give freebie banquets that people dump on the AH and we will probably never see profits on cooking banquets.

IMHO this comes back to the farm being essentially 'cost free' apart from time once you max it out. With cooking being a fundamental feature/perk in MoP, especially for Pandas and nearly every alt out there doing the farm thing for easy turn over, it's clear there's going to be a significant increase in cooking supply mats available out there.

Combine this with the fact that you only need one Banquet to cover an entire raid for a long period of time, it's clear that saturation is easy to derive.

I am not so sure that prices will increase over time either as the more alts you see levelled up, the bigger the increase in farm supplies will become.

I too have noticed this and have been gobbling up feasts for weeks. Unfortunately, it also took weeks to sell any. However I sell them in the 30-75g a piece range and pick them up in the 5-15g a piece range and if they don't sell oh well freebies for my guildmates.

The problem is that every Cook makes 150 banquets while leveling up to 600/6. I drop them for 5-mans and my alts still make them faster than I can eat them. Our gbank has a whole tab of them, free for the taking.

This is why I don't like the market. I've got a stack of banquets in my inventory from the caches that I keep listing for sale and getting returned to me, presumably because hundreds of people like me also have their own stacks from doing the dailies.

If you want to make money on the feasts this expansion, you need patience and creativity. Not having too many problems with cooking. As I stated in the guide voting thread, a guide for cooking should be made. It never was, so I made my own. =)
